Default 20 inch prop for a 52

I am installing a Taurus 52 and due to ground clearance issues on grass, I am limited to a 20" prop. (Yes, I know I should be using a 22 x 10). I currently have two 20 x 12's (Menz and Zinger). Does anyone have any experience running a 20" on a 50 cc engine (all the new designs are all pretty much the same).

Thanks,

Gerry

Have you considered using a 3 bladed prop? I've seen some guys that have trouble with ground clearance go to a 3 blade since that drops the diameter down a size or two.

I agree... look into a 3 bladed prop or a taller gear.

Also try this link for landing gear. http://www.tntlandinggear.com/
As well as a three blade prop.

Default Thanks for the input.

Good advice - I agree three blades may be the way to go. It is, however, a $150+ investment (prop + spinner) and I don't even know if this plane (an old 80" 16 lb SuperStar) is going to fly well enough to make that additional investment worthwhile. I want to test fly it first and for that I shall have to use a 20" prop (or maybe hand-launch it??).

Gerald, a cheap way to gain some clearance....bigger main wheels, and smaller tailwheel....can gain a LOT doing those two things.
