FT-160 Prop & Tank / Prop Choices??
Hi, Getting more equip together for
my 1/4 Decathlon.
Engine OS FT-160 arrived today and now should ordered a couple of props & a fuel tank.
Dynaflite Decathlon plans show a 24oz tank, seems a tad excessive but that's what it shows ....what do you think.
Engine manual say's:
15X8
16X6-8
18X6-8
20X6
1)What prop do you recommend for
test stand break-in.
2)Flying, very minimal 3d and realistic
go-rounds.
Your suggestions / opinions very much appreciated.
Tnx

FT-160 Prop & Tank / Prop Choices??
For the best vertical with this engine I would recommend an APC 17X6 prop. I run a 16 oz tank but if I had room I might use a 20 oz. Use the same prop for break in. A larger prop will load the engine too much and you will not get the best performance.
Invest in on board glow and a light 2150 nimh pack, adjust it to turn on at high idle and have a ball.

FT-160 Prop & Tank / Prop Choices??
Hi Brian, I take it you don't see any problem with running a large tank such as the 24oz like it shows on the Decathlon plans.
I'm still not sure what to order for props.
Not much experience here, but it seems
that I'd use something like a 16X8 for
break-in "on a test stand" and just for
standard non-3D flying maybe an 18X8. I'm just guessing here, again not much experience but loads of enthusiasm.
Oh, I do intend to use wood props.
Any other info suggestions much appreciated.
Tnx

Use the same prop for break-in. I do not recommend wood props for best performance. A good 18X8 will load the engine and strain it excessively.

Hi Brian, Just a short note to thank-you for info.
I've got a couple of 17X6 on order now, wil also use same for break-in.
Won't need them for a spell, but they'll be
ready when I am.
Thanks Agn
