So now there are two new 30cc engines that are relatively light and powerful and would do a great job in a 11-12 lb aerobat around 74" or so WS but I can not find anything to put them in. Maybe I am wrong but for some time I thought there were several planes as described, 10-12 lb 71"-74" WS that needed a 30cc engine less than 40 oz and an 18X?-20X? prop. It seems that now there are a number of 78" planes at 14-16 lbs AUW so they need about 40+ cc. I see these engines in several war birds but can not find a Yak or Extra that works. What currently for sale planes will work with these great sounding motors?

Thanks. All are either no longer on the web site or listed as out of stock on every site I can find except Cermark. The Cermark 70" series is still available but they are a bit too small for this engine I think (8-9 lbs). Looks like the hobby moved from 73-74" to 78" planes. The 78's really need about 40cc.

Pilot RC is coming out with a 26% Yak that should be a great match.

Yes the Extra is supposed to be real nice, I was just talking to EF the other day to see about a 74" Yak and to my surprise they told me the 74" Yak is discontinued which is really to bad as it would have been another perfect plane for your engines.

A few options I've been considering that are all in the right size/weight range:

Aeroworks Yak 120
Dawghouse RC Yak
TBM Magic Hand Yak
Cermark Extra or Edge
East RC 25% Yak
Extreme Flight Yak 74"
Pilot RC - new 73" Yak and Extra 260
WildHare Baby Edge
Seagull Extra 180
Fliton Extra 330 120C

I think this engine would work well in several of the KMP warbirds. KMP is Kondor Model Products. I am looking at the Hurricane in particular and it has a narrow cowl, so the rear carb/rear exhaust would probably work well. I think it also might work well in some of the CMP (China Model Products) warbirds.

Todd,

When will the engine be ready for shipment, realistically? Any part shipment or manufacturing delays?

Here is a link to what the stock SAP180HP will come with:

We are going for the end of the first week in August to start sending engines out. Just want everything to be correct...that's all.

Pilot RC looks like a great match. I love EF planes. I have a 58" Extra with a Saito 82 and it flies like a much larger plane. I want to keep the cost as low as possible so I can try stuff and if I bust it up I have not lost my 33% Yak. Just get another one.

Lots of other ideas too. Thanks.

Sorry, Bob. I haven't been looking at warbirds for myself, so I haven't compiled a list. I'd imagine any 120 sized warbird would be good. Since it's narrow and the correct weight, it should swap easily for anything intended for a Saito 120, 150, or 180.

Look at the warbirds from KMP. They sell the 26cc on their site, but I would think that the performance would be anemic. Now with the 30cc that Todd is coming out with, those planes may have some new life breathed into them.

good call Sam. I have had a KMP Stuka in the box for about a year now waiting for me to get to it. I have a Saito 180 for it but the Syssa might be the ticket now since ill save on glow fuel and ease of operation etc

My old Chip Hyde Cap CAP-X is also waiting for a heart transplant from the YS that's on their now, exciting stuff as I cant wait

Todd,
On your website you say, "Do not use a metal rod in your throttle servo linkage." Is a carbon fiber rod OK?
What size/type ignition battery do you recommend? Any thought on offering an optical ignition kill switch?
