Default Marine Formula STA-BIL

Has anyone used the Marine Formula Sta-Bil to help fight the problems associated with Ethanol? I'm wondering if this is worth the effort, or just plan on rebuilding the carb every year when replacing the fuel lines. So far I'm not having any issues but I'm trying to prevent any Gremlins down the road.

Thanks,
Mike

StaBil screws with the vapor pressure of the gas and unless there is a need due to long term storage not worth the effort. None of the other off the shelf octane boosters are worth much as well.

OK, I'll stick my neck out here and hope it doesn't get chopped off. I see no value in the Sta-Bil product whatsoever ... period! I have seen Sta-Bil users that swore by the product and in many cases there was a white powder left in the carbs after using the product. The powder itself caused more problems than not using the product. It seemed as the product caused a problem that really didn't exist in the first place.

If you use fresh gas, you don't need the product .... period. Run the carb dry before periods of long storage and you don't need the product. Most people use gas containing ethanol without problems.... problems seem to exist in some parts of the country but I don't think these are related to ethanol but the overall blend formula of the gas in those areas. Sta-Bil won't help you in these cases so don't waste your money. If your gas is getting old, pour it in your auto or lawnmower and buy fresh gas ... don't waste your money on products that have questionable value.

Did I say that I don't like Sta-Bil? YMMV ... Your mileage may vary ..... so use it if you must. As a disclaimer ..... it may work great for some people .... I just have not seen that positive experience yet.

When was the last time your weedy or chain saw needed a dose of Sta-Bil? Waste of money and time.

My Homey weed wacker carb was acting up and I cleaned it out. Started using Stabil in that and everything else that uses my 2 stroke gas. I use one mix for everything- Lawnmower, weedy, leafblower, snowblower, G38, G62, ZDZ 120, ZDZ 160, and the SV26. Haven't had a carb problem since I started using it. I don't add it until the first week in October, but I make sure EVERY engine gets some in it. No problems with carbs since. I use fuel with ethanol also. No choice anymore.

Thanks to all for your replies. The Marine Formula Sta-Bil would be just one more thing to keep up with so I will not be using it unless some problems arise that would seem to warrant its use.
