Default 1/4 scale engine size

Great Planes RV 4 calls for a 91 4cycle. It flies pretty well with it. Is a 26cc gas motor to much for it, and will it fit?

I have a clipped wing 1/4 scale cub with a RCGF 26 and it flys great. About 1/3 throttle to fly scale. Engine runs great. Still breaking it in. 18/8 APC prop.

That's a hard question, almost anything is possible if you want to do it badly enough. but will the benefit out weigh the trouble????? Depending on your building skills and what you would like the plane to do. Yes i could mount a 26cc gas onto that plane. you would have to modify a little and would have to cut some on the cowl. consider though it will add a fair amount of weight esp to the nose of the plane. was the plane already tending to be nose heavy?

I think it is less of a question of wheter it will fit and more of what it will take to balance the plane. The plane is already slightly nose heavy with a .91 fourcycyle, a 26cc gas engine would require serious mods to the fuselage to balance IMO.

I don't think flight performance would be good with all the extra weight of the engine and tail ballast required for a correct CG.

I thank you all. I believe that I will stick with the 91.

A guy at the field has one with a 26 on it. Flys great. That plane is decent size and has plenty of wing area. It would be a dog with a .91 fourstroke.
