Default Gas engine for a dynaflite super decathlon

I'm looking to put a gas engine in a dynaflite super decathlon. The manufacture specs say between a 25cc and 35cc gas and all up weight between 16 & 18 lbs. Could anyone suggest what would be a good engine size? I like doing mild aerobatics. Pete

An MVVS 26cc gas engine will be all you want.

A G26 and G38 make pretty close to the same thrust on their best props...we've got a Decathlon in our club, 20lbs AUW with floats, and it flies great with the G26. I do like the idea of trying the DL30 once available, could be a real winner.

I used a g-38 in the one I had. It balanced out perfectly mounting the servos like on the plans and would do mild aerobatics.

I have not but the difference between a g38 and a 31cc ryobi is night and day. My plane was about 16 lbs and the g38 balanced it out good. I used a 20" apc prop also. I would think a ryobi would be too small and you would need a long runway for take off and not be able to do aerobatics very well. It was not overpowered with a G38 and would do scale areobatics, ie no hovering. Hope this helps.
