the only oil you will ever need is opti-2 . non synthetic. mix 2-oz per gallon on any 2 cycle premix engine................GO FLY.........RON check it out at interlube.com look for opti-2 ,at better lawn mower shops. stop all the bickering and arguments about oil.......just get opti-2.

I have an MLD-28 that came in with a 70" Yak for review and I broke it in on the same mix (at Cermarks recomendation) and it runs like a swiss watch.

I never intended to get involved here but just out of curiosity I visited the Royal Purple site and read for myself that their TCW 111 rated oil is recommended for use as a pre -mix oil in 2 stroke motorcycles, which I assume have AIR cooled engines.

as i posted in #12, i'll mix my first batch of purple after i burn one more gallon of break-in penz air cooled...andy and others have given good reports (i can use the other oils in my chainsaw)...it would be interesting to see a new thread on 'quicksilver rejuvenate', which is supposed to meet JASO-FD...a local mercury marine sales/service shop never even heard of it (they sell yamalube)...

A new oil related topic seems to pop up just as the boredom seems to be getting the better of me, but hey lets not forget the new guys on the block to whom all this seems brand new, plus most of the time it's good entertainment and there is always the possibility of learning something new.
I am by no stretch of the imagination an expert wether oil or otherwise, but in the relatively short time I have frequented this forum and have become a gas burner this is my conclusion after having used several of the name brand oils discussed here which include Castrol, Echo, Bel Ray MC-, Red Line and now Pennzoil.
Any quality oil designed for air cooled 2 stroke engines and used in ratios between 32 and 50:1 will keep our engines quite happy and trouble free. My 10 year old mower sleeps in an open shed, has never been given treatment that even comes close to what we bestow on our engines yet week after week on whatever oil / gas that is available it starts right up and runs like a top until the next time. If only we could recognise that our model engines are pretty much the same.

hi karol...you summed it up very well...i'm outa here (until the next oil thread comes around)...gotta glue the firewall back on my Extra after chopping the throttle on final...i'm used to 10-pitch props, and forgot how much braking a 6-pitch prop gives...see ya...ken

Never liked 10" pitch props as they give too fast a down line. Hope you get it all square and as per the original, but be thankful as it could have been so much worst. Nothing like a little mishap to help keep us humble

Except for your error about air cooled motorcycle engines I agree with most of your conclusions about two stroke gasoline/oil mixes. Most are fine.

No problem Jess, maybe it's just my third world situation here as you will be hard pressed to find a liquid cooled 2 stroke. Those here seldom exceed 125cc or so, and most come out of the far East and have some very strange sounding brand names like Jampro and such.

My last personal experience with a motorcycle outside the U.S. was a couple of decades ago in Bermuda when about 90 seconds after renting a small bike I came face-to-face with a rather large truck and realized that everyone but me was driving on the other side of the road.
Please pardon my ignorance.
