Default DL50 vs DLE55

Looking for another 50cc class engine and I have to say that after having both the DA50 and DL50,for the money, the winner has to be the DL.As good as my DL50 is running ,I'm wondering if the new DLE55 is going to run and perform as good as the 50.My DL50 is smooth as silk, idles beautiful, and transitions great.I know that the 55 is more powerful, but I can't imagine that it could be any more reliable.I'm sure someone out there has both, please give me some advice on which one I should buy.Iknow that it will be harder to find a DL50,but I'm sure they can still be bought. Thanks

Not many new 50's left out there. The 55 has more torque, so since the money spent would be the same between the two I'd go for the newer engine. It will also have better parts availability should they be needed.

Parts, and service support are equaly available for both. The 55 does have a slight edge in power but it's not enough to be a factor in the decision. If you want a new engine with a warranty then your only option is a 55, there are 50s out there but not from any authorized distributors that can offer you factory warranty support if needed.

I have to second everything flyerdave is saying about the DL50. Mine is reliable like clock work. For the money there is no other motor right now that could match price/performance ratio of a DL.

I have one of each and they are similar in power. I wouldn't buy any other engine. They do everything better than any engine I have owned out of 5 brands. I really need a reliable engine the way I fly, which is much lower than most. Stalled aerobatics demand a lot of the engine.
