Typical beautiful OS motor. I'm glad to see they did a nice cast crankcase rather than the bingy CNC. I would think they will modify the mounting lugs though, for a gasser they are weak looking. AT $690 they are right at DAs price range, 55cc one ups DA and equals DLE. Tower will be the importer so I would guess it will be in the $750~800 area.

The mount does appear to be a potential problem in the pocket book if there is a crash?

Here we go again with another strange carb. Where's the regulator side of the carb?

At least the ignition seems to be a RCEXL type Ground wire?

I think that is where I would want it to break. I'd rather replace a back plate than the engine case.

I would guess that the carburetor will work excellent just like the rest of the OS carburetors.

The crankcase disassembly is more on the order of the old style OS Four Stroke crankcase disassembly from the '80's where you raise the cylinder sleeve extract the wrist pin out the hole in the back.

The nice part is the rear mount is replacable. I am not sure if I like the front carb on it. It may interfere with some cowls. I do however really like the sleeve in the cylinder.

The igntion is interesting in that it has a grounding wire.

looks like a very nice engine.

But the front carb will be hopeless to hide in a model......which sucks

OS carbs are the best in the glow world period, so let's hope it works as good as them.
OS has produced some of the finest 2 stroke glow engines ever made (like the 1.08 FSR or the 1.40 RX) and I really like seeing them getting in to the gas world.

Andres.

So take a BGX an modify it slightly to turn it into a gas engine. The rear mounts do look weak and I can't understand why OS would design something that could require frequent replacement. I don't translate Japanese at all so the weight will play large. For the money a BME 58 wins out, but the power comparison remains to be seen. I will agree that the OS line used to be the best glow engine on the market but I have to dispute anyone stating that they have maintained their high quality standards of 15-20 years back.

For Andres, the BME 58 comparison is logical due to power, weight, machine quality, and price comparisons. The only other possible comparison would be with the Mintor line because of superior (highest) quality levels. BME and Mintor are currently the highest tolerance quality engines on the market, with DA extremely close in the running.

Default RE: OS have just announced a 55cc gas engine

the ignition is an in-house design, they didn't use any off-the-shelf design. Apparently it is optimized to maintain high voltage and high RPM.

Looking closely at the con rod I think that is a bushing and not a needle bearing. Ruh roh, chink in the armor! Just like the Moki 1.80 gasser.

As for the price there is no telling what will happen there. Most of the time the OS engines sell for around 70% of retail price, so maybe $450 or so?

**edit** on second look, it almost appears to have needle bearings at the crankpin side. If they went to the trouble of designing their own carb and ignition, I can't believe they would forget the needle bearings.

After the OS FL70 fiasco I would be very hesitant to be the first kid on the block to buy this baby.......

Looks like rollers in the big end. Interesting they copied the DA piston skirt port design.

Do you really think DA are the inventors of piston skirt porting ?, or O.S. engineers analyzing a DA engine to make his own desing ?

Piston skirt design is a very old design, used by MANY 2S engines .
