Limbach 275 cc engine NIB
Can anybody tell me about this engine? I am thinking of buying it and just need some feedback from you engine guy's. I am thinking of putting it in my 124" blown up Ziroli F4U-5N Corsair. The cowl is over 14" in diameter. It will probably weigh around 70+ lbs with the heavy engine.
Thanks in advance,
Barry

It's the smallest engine Limbach makes, is still in production, uses twin carbs, twin unshielded magneto ignition, (one for each cylinder), 20 hp at 7200, designed and marketed for use in RPV/UAV industry, made in Germany, no known North American dealers. Easy to find info about it on the web, Limbach is best know for it's VW conversions for light aircraft.

Thanks Jody,
If you could buy a new one for $1000.00 shipped to your door would you buy it. The man selling it is a friend of Jeff Queensberry if you know of him. He had the 13' Corsair. Jeff says that he is a honest guy. He told me there is a repair facility in Ohio.

I have no idea what they actualy sell for but that doesn't sound like a bad price. I would investigate other factors that go into it's suitability for a given application before I just bought it because it's a good deal, like how big a prop it takes to hold it back to say around 6000 RPM, cooling and fuel system requirements, among other operational criteria. Ignitions may need to be changed for RC use with our recreational technology but that would be pretty easy to do. If I needed an engine that large, that much nose weight was beneficial, and it was smooth enough it wouldn't shake the plane apart, I would consider it but I would try to learn as much as possible about it as I could first. I've never run one so I can't speak to that but it was pretty easy to find info about it on the net, I would try to find the place that services them you refered to and give them the 50 questions treatment.

I have decided to go with a 3W 210. I love those engines and Bobby is right here in Arizona to stand behind it. That is if I can ever get in touch with him.
