I assembled a CRRC 40 kit engine a while back. I ended up runnig an RCexl ignition on that engine with a new sensor. It just seems to run smoother.
I have the ignition that came with the kit engine to play with on my conversions. It is marked "CRRCpro" on the front. The backs says "model 04" and "made by volcano electronics". I make my hall sensor brackets as needed for that I am working on.
Will this unit work with a sensor compatable with the RCexl ignitions? I have about a dozen unwired sensors to go with the RCexl that I bought from CH electronics. Can I use those sensors with the CRRCpro ignition? Is there a difference in the type of sensor? Bipolar, unipolar etc? Is the wiring different colors for pos, ground and signal?
Can I ruin the ignition by plugging in a RCexl sensor and trying it out?
If I recall correctly, the CRRC ignition timed 40 deg BTDC as the factory made it. Would that indicate a different type of sensor> The new sensor for the RCexl is in about the same poition as the CRRC one. Might be the 10-degrees difference is because of switching before vs when the magnent passes??
