US Engines 41 cc

I picked up a 41 cc US engine from an auction over the weekend, and I am wondering two things. First, does anyone have part? Second, how much is too much to spend to fix it? The bearings appear to be all good, except the spring starter- the spring is shot as well, so I am in need of mainly the crank seals, carb gaskets, and crankshaft thrust washers. Is it worth repairing?

B & B Specialties has parts. I wouldn't worry about crank seals and thrust washers. Just rebuild the carb with rebuild kit...remove the spring starter and start it with an electric starter. They will run forever if you keep it lubricated. A little heavy but reliable...certainly worth a try.

B&B will have that spring as well. I find using it WAY easier than dealing with a starter.....

If you are going to be rebuilding the spring starter set up - It is wise to inspect and re-grease the one way bearing part of the spring starter.
If the spring rubbed on the shaft, the rear seal in the engine will most likely be ruined also.
If you call Bennett he will ber asking you about this?

I haven't been able to find one, but if you need parts, I got them from the website link provided above.
I made a first attempt at starting my engine on Sunday, after repairs had been made. It popped and ran for a few minutes at low speed, but when I tried to open it up it just died. For the moment, I'm chalking it up to the cold weather, as it was around 30 degrees. However, once it warms up and proves to be reliable, I may go ahead and purchase a new spring starter.
Does anyone have a used spring starter laying around they'd be willing to part with?

You can get the one way brgs called "Sprague clutch" at a local brg jobber for minimum dollars. Can be pressed out and in with sockets and a vice. When pressing them in, press only on the end with the writing on it, and make sure you press them back in right way around. Otherwise, dire consequences.
