Default Ignition problem (need help)

I have a Brillelli 46cc with a C&H ignition on a Great Planes Giant Super Sportster. With the plug out it fires good, but won't hit a lick after I put it in and try to crank it.
It is getting plenty of gas and has good compression. I bent the ground prong on an old plug and it will fire strong across a 1/8 gap.
I'm wondering if anybody else has run into this problem and can maybe give me some advice. It's got me baffled and I appreciate any help ya'll could give me.

Why don't you contact CH and talk to Bill or Terry. They will be able to help you.

Try priming the engine. Dan.

Oops. First check the spark plug. If it is dry, then use a prime. Dan.

Does the plug get wet after several cranks? I think the problem is not with the ignition since you can see the sparks. Timing is also important.

I talked to Terry at CH and he said to try the 1/8 gap, if that worked the ignition was good, but it could be jumping inside the plug wire. It don't miss one time with the plug out. but won't even pop once with the plug wet with gas. Timing is good. I have run 22 gallons of gas through it, but the last 4 times I've flown (short flights) it was missing and the last time it quit altogehter and hadn't hit a lick since. I absolutely don't understand it.

Thanks for the ideas.

sometimes when a plug goes bad it will not fire under compression but will fire in open air,try a new plug and check your low end needle setting

There may be a leak in the spark plug boot,it will fire out of the engine but not under compression. As someone said try a new spark plug.

Open the gap to 3/16 of an inch. A good ignition system should be able to jump this in open air. If it does you ned to look else where for your problem.
