I have a new TGY 50 that I can't get started. It did not come with a manual and I don't know that much about them.. I've done searches and found some on TGY 52's not much on the 50.
1. I have fuel.. it drips from the carb
2. I don't think I have spark. I took the plug out hooked up a battery but could not get spark should I not see spark?
3. how can I tell if the ignition box is working?
4. how can I tell if the timing is correct?
thanks

Hi Ucak, Here is a video that will help you with the timing.

Seat the spark plug in to the cap and touch the threads of the plug against part of the engine. Rotate the crankshaft until the pick up coil passes the magnet in the shaft and you should get a spark. If not, there could be something wrong with the plug, ignition module, switch, battery, magnet, pick up coil or one of the connectors. The only way you can tell for sure is to start replacing each one, one at a time. It is usually the module that fails so try that first.
Gasoline should never be flowing out of the carburetor unless there is something wrong with it. You will have to start rebuilding it to find out for sure.

Dan,
thanks for the video. Here is where I am at now....
I have spark on the plug the first twist of the prop. then after that nothing. I have a good battery... how can I tell if it is the sparkplug or the electronic ignition system?
thanks

Ucak, The best I can offer is to start replacing things. You may have a weak pickup coil or module if you only get one spark and then no more. There are a lot of other guys watching this catagory of posts that know a lot more about these engines than I do. Hopefully, they can add some more suggestions. Dan.

take the spark-plug out....put it on the ignition cap....next with the ignition switch on or battery connected directly to ignition turn over the prop while touching the spark-plug onto any metal place on the engine....you should see a spark in broad daylight..... thats the way i test to see if the ignition is firing... if it passes that test then turn off ignition open the throttle all the way and choke it and flip the prop a few times. You should see the fuel in the line move and the carb should be wet.... you might have your lowend set too lean
*edit... i should of read the whole thread before answereing

I'm not that familiar with that engine, but keep in mind that some ignition modules will not spark if the magnet passes under the sensor too slowly, some EI modules do some don't.
Just make sure you are turning it over fast enough.
