No gas Saito's yet, but if when, I will keep that in mind! Thanks!

My lady said she would take a plane back to her mothers if I bought another War-bird, Two of the prettiest take offs I have ever seen!

I can see a place for a 20CC gasser, but most planes aren't set up to take the weight. I would love to get a few .60 size planes and put a gas motor in them. The .46-.50 size birds could use them too. 4S motors are pretty expensive, but they are light in weight. The MLD28cc will over-power a .60 warbird into a high speed flying monster! It has to be reinforced to do it. You can't get a bird that is light in construction to put a gasser into. The weight of a gasser has to be improved more before they will become popular with the average person, especially in the 15-28CC market. The price needs to stay low. The few NItro to Gas conversions out there are pretty expensive when you think of the horsepower reduction and added engine/ignition/battery setup.

Captinjohn,

Loved the pix of your profile birds which could be used for this engine. Could you let us know who makes/sells them?

Jodi,

As these engines become extremely popular, will you be carrying some profile type planes for them?

We may but the DLE20 will fit well with many other aircraft types as well. The plane in Capt'n John's pictures was from Ohio Model Products.

I've been considering 20cc gassers for warbird twins and 4 engined projects. After a disappointment with rcgf as an early adopter I will sit on the side line for awhile and hope it turns out as good as the other DLE offerings. I have confidence my rcgf will run again, it was just a disappointment. It ran great for the first gallon, then developed intermittant problems. It happens, and it will run again.

Subscribed. This sounds like the ideal motor for the Ta152H I'm planning on building soon.

Many thanks for the heads up
Which TA 152? The Kyosho? The TA 152 is one of the finest flying scale models there is. I have plans for a 114" to be built for scale competition. It is designed for a 50cc though. Good luck.

<hr />Ther are many Profile planes to try. They make a good airplane to master knife edge flight. Once you trim them for strait flight in the Knife edge....there is nothing to it. I have flown from one end of the field (as far as you can see good) and right back an to the other extreme distance. Pratice on a simulator....you will get automatic...doing entire flights in knife edge. Capt,n

Thats correct, the Kyosho FW -Ta 152H in 90size. Beautiful, stunning, bootylicious airplane. Ihave a picture of a full size on my wall but with the swastika airbrushed out. I won't ever built an aircraft with that mark on it, ever.

Jodi and Captinjohn,

Thanks to both of you for your responses to my questions regarding profile planes for the new DLE20.

The planes look fantastic; and I'm excited to get started on some when the DLE20 becomes available.

I've been flying giant scale for the past 20 years, but the size of them is becoming a problem for me to handle( old fart parts )....so I'm looking for some "gasser" fun in smaller planes; and this looks perfect.

Thanks again for the pix and info.

y2kvett....In the set of photos...the top right photo is my Profile on the Green lawn. I will not tell you who that Old Foggie is with the straw hat! His grand son right next to him is a very good flyer. He landed better than most the first time out. He went right back up and instead of flying more, landed right away! I asked him why...he said he liked the challenge. He makes us old pilots look bad...he never bounces the plane! Have fun & get your Grand kids out too. Best Regards capt,n

Yes my legacy to my grandkids it to teach them this great therapy, I mean hobby! When they take off and land one day on their own is the same feeling I had when I made my first solo, What a great day, and with all the grand kids I have, looking forward to allot more of the great days! When kids outfly me its not a problem, I fly the best I can and enjoy what I can do, But their young eyes and reflexes they learn fast! A bunch of us was out at the field one day and a young fellow he's 10 came over and was watching the plane's fly we all recongized the look! Do not see it like you did years ago. I ask him if he would like to learn and he said yes. I told him to bring a note from his parents and he did and I buddy boxed him. He made two complete circles on his first flight, He listened to every word I said and he will solo before he goes back to Idaho where he lives with his mom. Love to teach someone that wanted to learn as much as I did when learning!

My doctor told me I would need allot more therapy, So I bought more planes!

Thanks for sharing those models with us Capt,n as now I know just what I want for my hopefully soon to be a reality DLE20, and that is a Funtana V2. Grand kids or just kids in general, especially if they are well behaved are simply the greatest.

Jody,

Does the bolt pattern on the exhaust port match any of the available Inverted Pitts-style mufflers?

Thank you in advance.

The DLE20 is lighter than 120AX including ignition ...... 840g. all included the DLE vs. 860g. the 120 AX , both with muffler.

Regards
Okay, I have to call FOUL on this one!

Your wrong on the weights of the OS 120 AX!....
The muffler doesn't weight 7 oz!.... or 219 g. maybe IF you use ALL the extensions, parts of the muffler but no need.
I know, because I weighed mine couple years ago with a calibrated 200$ mail scale...
(sold the scale no need for it)
And no way does a 20cc gas engine With a walbro carb, ignition weigh in LESS than 32oz!....NO WAY!....
BME has a ST 15cc engine that weighs in at 26oz (not sure if it includes muffler) and the AX 120 (20cc) is only 2oz more than the ST .90....(15cc)

The OS is very lightweight for a 1.20 size engine...

My guess, is the DLE 20cc weighs in at 34oz with muffler, excluding ignition battery.

If they have got that engine to weigh in at 23oz like you claim....
Those bearings must be plastic....

Quite impressive Jody as it looks like it has more umph than my G20.

Karol
Ditch the ignition for a LIGHT WEIGHT CHina ignition, and gut the stock muffler (can't sound any worse than that LOUD chainsaw
of a engine in the video {DlE20} and it will do very close to a 26cc engine.

THe engine does well for it's size, but doesn't compare to a comparable glow engine...
My OS 1.20 AX with a APC 17x6 =9000 RPM's It does however have a pipe.
Could take off 400RPM's and still have 500Rpms over the 20cc gas engine...

Believe what you want but you have never held one in your hand, put one on a scale, or ran one with a digital tach connected and measured it'sthrust. I have and I don't lie, my reputation speaks for itself. I'd prove it right now with pictures but you probably would think I faked them too, besides I'm leaving now to go racing, see you Monday.

BTW the DLE20 spins an APC17x8 @ 8200 and pulls out 14lbs. 9 oz. of thrust with the stock exhaust, no help from a pipe. Also I didn't compare it to an OS 1.20 AX, I compared it to a Saito 1.25 and a CRRC Pro 26, it kicks both of their butts and it looks like it would give the OS a run for it's money too!

Wow..... if at that weight it does that I will take a couple when they come out. Even if it was a little bit less powerful as an OS 120ax the fuel savings alone more that make up for that!!!

All I ever saw a OS 120AX do is dead stick if the mixture was just a little bit off.

rwfo1.....I like that ratio 30.4 to 1 which is very close to what DLE recomends. Easy to do at gas station, just poor in 4 oz oil (like pennzoil for air cooled engines) and then pump in .95 gallon of good gas. All done! Capt,n
