Just use one on your Rx, you can fly for at least 4 or 5 hours non stop on a 2000 ma ignition battery.

Same here, guess I have to break out the cold weather gear.....My DL20 is mounted in the Aeroworks 60-90 Extra 300. What a combination....with an APC 17x6 power is great. Motor is reliable, starts with a couple of flips... maiden was yesterday, broke the 17x4W then switched to 17x6. I think I like the 17x4W better. 2 guys at the field want to buy this motor...the DL20 is going to change the face of sport RC flying. I flew for about $.15 today...

Problem with using the servo/choke to stop engine in air if emergency is:
A common problem is if the engine comes loose from it's mounts, the servo will have trouble operating the choke..

A simple servo operated switch for 2$ works good....
1. pipe it into the ignition wire...

Got my OMP fusion out today..15-20 wind gusts engine ran great, all i can say is good bye glow engines. Have a jc 16x8 super prop on it for break in but can already tell this is not enough prop, will probably switch to a xoar or vess 17x6 Spool up is great with the 16x8 but i think 9200 on the tach is a little high. This little dle20 started easy and ran flawless all 3 flights.

We were flying at Crestline today and it was too windy and gusty. Besides the wind made it rather cold. The temperature was in the high 40's.

One guy flew Dan's old OMP plane and there was a bigger OMP with a BME 50 there.

Nobody has as yet done or posted any dyno results, but we can get a feeling of the power curve
dropping off in the 8000-8400 rpm range. Thrust up to round abouts 8000 rpm is very strong. After that,
it feels like it's just pumping out useless rpm numbers only.

More run time by more users will give us a better feel for this mighty little gasser. Right now the sweet spot
for thrust/torque is achieved with a 17x6-17x8 prop. My first choice is an APC, followed up closely by Vess & Zoar.

Those of us in the colder Winter states, will be sitting back soon reading the exploits of others in the warmer climates.[&o]

should i break in the motor on the plane or off? thanks rye
The manual for this DLE20cc, crappy as it is, specifically states to NOT hard mount for break-in (test stand=NO)

Mount it in your model, leave any cowl OFF so you can easily get to the LS and HS needles. Run it on the ground
just long enough to set the HS and LS needles.....then go fly it!

No need to baby it, but some common sense is appropriate during break-in; no excessive long idling, nor long
periods of high rpm. Brief blips should be ok. No excessive hovering. I give mine about 15 minutes cool down after
each flight. That gives the cyl, piston, and ring time to expand/contract from run/off/run/off. Good for getting piston ring
to seat quickly.

After it's broke-in, fly the crap out of it and enjoy!!!

But it is YOUR engine, and your money......so do as you wish. The details above is my way.

Finally, a really good manual for the DLE20cc engine!
Thanks for posting that link. I'll add it to my list of specs for this engine.

Decided to sell the Goldberg Tiger120 and put the DLE 20 in a Dragon Lady. The Dragon Lady is built like a tank, and it's a taildragger with good prop clearance. As an added bonus, the sale of the T120 pays for the DLE and props!

If this engine lives up to the expectations - based on the performances recounted in this thread - a second one will go on the Jerry's Big Boy ARF I have sitting on the shelf.

So will this engine fit a SIg Senior and then slip in to a Top Flight Golld edition Corsair or am I too much for one not enough for another?
I am new to the gasser engines is there a table out there that would give and info on what size gasser replaces nitro 2 and 4 strokers. Basically I guess what I'm asking ie...a 20cc gasser will replace a 60-90 2s or a 90-120 4 stroke...etc for all the gassers

Exactly right....the DLE 20 replaces a 60 to 90 2stroke or a 90 to 120 4stroke.

WOW

Ran the DLE 20 on the test stand for the first time today. This little guy is sweet. It starts easily, idles nicely and spins an 16 x 8 APC prop at 8500 rpm and I’ve put only 12 ounces through it. What is this engine going to do when broken in? WOW! This engine is a perfect drop in for the RCS 140, which it is going to replace. I think when broken in it will have more power than the RCS 140 and it already handles better. I hope to try a few other props and mount the Jtec wrap around Pitts muffler, should be here tomorrow, and see how it handles other props and the Jtec muffler. I wish I would have had this one at the beginning of the Michigan flying season. Can’t wait ‘till it’s warm again. WOW
Did I say WOW?

Gramps

Edit: Corrected prop size.

With the small gassers it becomes a real problem for ignition system separation from the radio receiver & servo. They call for a 12 inch separation. So choose your airplane to small gasser with care. Separation of radio gear & ignition while keeping a good CG (center of gravity) can be a real trick. Do a lot of reading of this & choose combinations that are easy to do & fly like you intend to fly. This is kinda all "new ground, so do not get in a hurry. Read....Read...Read....Oh....use goggle search too. Best Regards capt,n PS spell check helps too!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Probably, yes.

But put your washers between the firewall and the eng mount, NOT under the engine itself.
