P-40K-5,
I looked over your build thread and I'm impressed with your attention to detail.
Very nice model!
This DLE20cc gasser looks like it belongs in that model!

I am starting to get concerned about my DLE 20 now , i dont have a warbird to put it on, would it do ok on a fun fly sport type model? it had unlimited vertical with a saito 150. so i am guessing i wont lose much performance if any,

Go mine running this afternoon and it is strong as mule piss! I tried a Vess 16x8 (8400) and 17x6 (8200) sport. Can't wait to fly my Aeroworks Edge 540T next weekend!

Thanks John, too much trouble to make them. I found some that will work. I couold make them but to tired.Looks like we are finally going to have a little winter. Did not get to fly today and tomorrow looks worse.
I have run Dl 30 with fixed timing runs fine idle is not as smooth of course. Not big enought to hurt you with kick back.We run all of the weedie engines for years with fixed timing about 26To28 BTDC.
Dl 20 flies the 90 U-CAN-DO fine.Just does not pull out of a hover as good as the 30.Only got one flight, weather turned crappy.

BCCI, I can make you a set of round stand-offs for you 20cc engine on my lathe. Give me a length & dia. I can do them for free....if they are not too complicated. Capt,n

This is the "New DLE20cc Gasser!" thread. Shouldn't that belong over in the "NEW DLE30! message thread" ?
For others reading here; the DLE20CC is a rail mount gas engine (std glow engine style mounting), which does NOT use "stand-offs".

Jody,
I see VVRC is listing some "Carbon Fiber looking Propellers"
Are those basically wood props with some sort of coating?
Any thrust figures for a 17 x 8 on this DLE20cc?

Jody,
They are indeed cool looking props. Thanks.
Another question; the chrome prop nut, is it the ONLY thing
holding a prop on this DLE20cc, or are the double nuts hidden
underneath it?

You might be better off with a JBA .15 instead.

They're glass filled nylon and are copies of APC propellers with a cool carbon like paint job, I don't know how they do it. They are the 16x8 and 17x8 props I post numbers on at the beginning of this thread. They've been tested against APC props several times and are as identical as it gets.

I guess I know what prop my wife will need to order when she orders the engine!

You can also toss in one of those Alum spinner nuts as well.[sm=lol.gif]
Sure hope the stock double nuts fit beneath that one.

Yes, that hub serves as the prop nut the OEM nuts and washer is not used.

Why not? It can't get looser, if it slips it just gets tighter. If you stick some adhesive backed sand paper on the hub face it can't slip. Many, many, engines in scale applications have used the same system for decades without problem.

RE: NEW DLE 20cc Gasser! (Data & Links 1st Post)
I was really more interested in the stats on the aircraft. Than the aircraft it self. The performance is good ,, but not stellar. No doubt it would do better on a lighter ship. I'd like to see it on a profile designed around a 120 gasser. But it is a good test bed for the motor. Gives a good idea what its capable of.
The smaller 2 stroke gassers run just like they do on power equipment. Most small engines like this only run in 2 conditions wide open or idling, not much in between and the carb operation reflects that. And they are never broke in. Most are gassed up and run wide open from the time they are purchased till they get thown in the dumpster hunderd of hours later.
Thanks for the info.

Make two DLE20cc & two 17 x 8 CF looking props......one for you, one for me!
You can also toss in one of those Alum spinner nuts as well.[sm=lol.gif]
Sure hope the stock double nuts fit beneath that one.

Just need one more nail in that stocking on your mantle!
BTW, my wife thought that was pretty funny. Unfortunately, she wont' be sending you an engine[&o], but still funny.
