RE: G-62 lite
" Hmm.. you yanks alwas have been suckers for more rpm " You've got that right Pe ! Put a 16 x 6 on that G-62 and WOW ! Look what I did, WOW ! No one here ever considers thrust. It's embarrassing to beleive that some people here, think only of rpm. [:o]
Wake up people ! |

RE: G-62 lite
No, but by running a couple of props it gives people a basic benchmark to compare to. On a forum it is about the only thing that will come close to comparing things fairly as all we have is the ability to type figures. Is it accurate, no, but it does give a good idea of what to expect. All of my planes I currently fly are propped to turn in the 6's. When it comes to flying it will depend on the airframe in conjunction with the engine as to what prop performs the best. That will only be decided with flying it. In this case it will most likely end up being somewhere between a 20x12 and the 22x10 as this is first going into a warbird where speed not 3D ability is desired.....

RE: G-62 lite
The thing about a G62, It might not be the strongest per cc engine out there, But you would have to beat it with Doug’s 10lb sledge hammer to kill it.

RE: G-62 lite
LMAO!!
|
RE: G-62 lite
This just shows you how people jump into a thread and get it all out of shape.
Doug just posted that he had himself a G62 lite and really liked it and posted some RPM number. Then here comes all the critics with all there post about low rpm power and thrust. No where did I read about Doug saying anything about any of that. If you want to talk about thrust and low rpm factors, Start a thread. Milton |
RE: G-62 lite
BTW I never mentioned how snappy the throttle response is or how low it idles ....but we won't go there will we. ;) :D

RE: G-62 lite
Talking about getting criticized.
A little over two years ago I built a thrust stand that you could mount a plane in and test thrust with different props. Was at a fly in and was having some fun with it, Tested a Area51 with a 23-A Vess prop and a DA with a 23-A Vess prop, The Area51 put out 2lbs more thrust than the DA at the same RPM Had the video posted on U Tube but got so much slack about it I removed it. We did the test three time to make sure nothing was wrong, So showing people thrust test does not seem mean squash . Milton |

I take it the rum is tasting good tonight. [8D]
So it the whiskey ;) I have an excuse though...I have a sore throat and is seems to be the only thing that helps. :) |

Real good. LOl
Rum that is.:) Milton |

See you are looking at the thread, How is the 60cc coming along, Might just get one from you sense Kevin is no longer talking to me. LOL |

I have had plenty others but I keep coming back to the superior craftmenship and reliability. |
RE: G-62 lite
With my relaxed style of flying plus the non high performance models I like to fly makes those so called heavy but smooth running and ultra relaible Zenoah's just the thing for me, plus having Ralph do his magic on them just made them so much better. Guess I'm really just a Zenoaholic at heart.

RE: G-62 lite
Hi, Guys, Need a G62 carb, how do I get in touch with Ralph? Thanks Don.
|
RE: G-62 lite
The G-62 uses the Walbro HDA-48 carb
It can be bought from many sources http://www.davesmotors.com/s.nl/c.88...it.A/id.909/.f |
RE: G-62 lite
Yes just do a web search and many sources will come up. Horizon Hobby has them as well.

How is it possible for the exact same prop at the exact same rpm produce two different thrust calculations? Aaron D. |
RE: G-62 lite
...a slight variance in the props used (assuming the same exact prop wasn't used), or a problem in the precision of the thrust stand/tachometer. It would have to be a very controlled test environment to gain accurate results.
The area 51 and Da, with vess prop werent the only things tested at a given RPM...sounds like the entire plane could be placed in this thrust measuring device, which opens up even further possibility for differences in measurement. This test wasn't particularly useful, other than resolving that the Area 51 and DA could spin the same prop at the same rpm. |
