Here are a couple of pictures of my new G-62 lite made by Ralph Cunningham and sold through Milton at RC Extreme Power. I must say I am very impressed with the quality. Ralph sure makes a nice rotator block that keeps the carb in close to the engine. What a nice engine and I cannot wait to get my P47 done this winter so I can put this baby to work. I must say thank you to Milton and Ralph for getting together and putting these out again. I have wanted one for some time. It pays to keep an eye on the little guys, some good deals and great products are out there if you look. I see Milton is having a big sale on mufflers right now as well if anyone is looking for some. I, too, purchased a Ralph Cunningham (RCIgnitions) modified Zenoah G62 engine. I could not have been more impressed. What a wonderful engine. Thanks, yet again!

There are a couple things Ralph does for the engine other than custom make all the parts to make it a G62 light that most people probably never see until they need it.
One is the carb rotator that is $14.00 from horizon and the prop bolt drilled and taped for spinner bolt, $3.00 from Horizon. Milton |

A very, very nice engine indeed!! I am one of those who loves the 62....wish I had plenty of money as I would have a couple more...mine is a real powerhouse!

I see Ralph redisigned the prop hub since I owned mine. They are great engines! I had mine on a 16lb Ultimate Biplane, NX 21x10 prop, lightweight DLE50 side dump muffler...I don't think anything in our entire club could beat it going straight up :)

Ralf knows his job, and the 62 is a very dependable engine.
Having said that, your club has seen nothing Yet! The 62 is a niche market engine with many virtues. For all purposes, there are different engines that perform better, especially if you need more power lower down on the rpm scale. |

Need more power on the lower side, put more throttle into it, The G62 has the ump to handle it. LOL

Got one of Ralphs pullin my 27% Gee Bee Y, and you can't find a better engine for flyin scale aircraft anywhere !

I just put it on my postage scale the way it is shown in the picture with the built in ignition, mount, prop bolt, etc. Everything but the muffler and it shows 4lbs 3.4oz.

plus add the side dump muffler and the Rcexl ignition ... mine came to 74.5 oz (4 lbs 10.5oz)

No need to add the Rcexl ignition. This version the electronic ignition is built into the mount by Ralph. You only need to add the weight of the muffler. I believe the ones Miltons sells are only about 3 or so ounces.

I just got back from the field after running the engine. Wow!!!! I am blown away with it. Super smooth, it is without a doubt the smoothest single I have ever run. I ran about 36 oz of fuel through it and tested three props. I was running the stock Zenoah muffer which I have read in many places really restricts the rpm. With the muffler on I ran a Xoar Sword 22x8 at 7180. The Xoar C.F. 22x10 was 6600 and a Falcon Beach 22x10 was 6200. All props were re-tuned for mixture. Then I removed the muffler and re-ran the Xoar C.F. 22x10 and got 7120 rpm. An increase of 520 rpm. In past tests I found most side dump mufflers fell between 50 to 100 rpm loss depending on the muffler. The wrap around ones I tried in the past fell between that and 300 rpm loss depending on the brand. I am going to be using a Jtec wrap around on the plane this engine so I am expecting that to put me right on 7000 rpm and then what ever I gain as it breaks in.
BTW all rpms were taken on a heat soaked engine.... |

You know that a G62 is nothing but a low power brick only good for old farts that know nothing about a good engine. LOL On a side note Due to unforeseen problems they will not be any made for 30-45 day’s, For this reason I have taken them off my web site. I will have a few of them that are stock with Rcexl ignitions other than magneto. Milton |

From the pics posted I see that Ralph has changed the design of the prop hub from the original fluted one he offered first time around. Can you say if so ordered if he would be willing to make one to that original spec or was there a specific performance reason for the change ? Karol |
