Need an engine

I have a 1/4 scale P-40 and need an engine for it. I am thinking about the DA-85. Does anyone have any experiance with this engine, or have any advice on other engines? Thanks.

I have 2 DA-85s, in my opinion they are very good engines. Expect more vibration than you would get from a twin.

Whats your definition of 1/4 scale? I have a Bob Cambell P-40 with a 112" w/s thats concidered 1/4 scale. A DA-85 would barely fly this plane. I have a Taurus 120cc single rated at 13hp that should fly it quite well.

how much does that "Bob Cambell P-40" weigh ??

my friend's 106' Span P47 weighs 37 pounds and is powered by an older Sachs 4.2 (69cc), with a Bolly (24x10) Carbon it's very well powered,

the key to "this" setup is the Carbon Prop, it wasn't as fast with the Menz Wood..

The plane I have is a bates 97". The plans call for a 60cc to 100cc. I need a single cylinder or an inline twin. Any Ideas?

(97"/60cc to 100cc)

DA is a good powerful Engine with great support !! looking at my friend's P47 I'm sure the DA-85 would do the job,,

on the other hand you don't need the most expensive Engine and you do not want a cheap-O brand, my other friend has a First Place 90 (maybe it's a 95 ???) and it has been a very good engine so far, it has been flying for 3 years, and it's powerful for sure,,

see my friends P47 (106"/ 37 pounds, Carbon Bolly), look close and you will see the older Sachs 69cc,,,
