RE: Brison engine ignition problems.

I have a line on the fixed ignition but it's very pricey,,
I didn't ask Bill about the sensors,, I kinda hated to bother him before,, but it sounds like he is recovering,, maybe I'll shoot him another email

I'm sure I can make the rcx sensor work based on what I see, just prefer a direct bolt on Ap when available

Thanks

Dan,

You should keep the CH. Anything that is currently using an RC Exl is compatible with it. Cory would need to come up with $76.00 or so for an RC Exl but you would be giving up the best ignition made to date for a gas engine. It's the ONLY small engine ignition that survived severe and prolonged vibration and heat soak testing in a government style lab environment. Previous market value about $125.00. Current market value: Priceless. Is giving it away really what you want to do?
O-boy.

I have one used fixed advance CH ignition I would sell. This is from an original never run (was mounted) Brison 2.4 that I am converting to Rcexl. I have a second 2.4 that will remain mechanical advance and will continure to use the original CH ignition. PM if interested.

RE: Brison engine ignition problems.

Well I ended up getting a new rcxel auto advance ignition from one of the guys that sells them here, I had to fabricate a bracket/clamping system for it and it took some tinkering and adjusting to get the timing dialled in just right, but it's running great again now..

Thanks for all the suggestions and help guys

Scale, Where was the final setting that got things running right? The CH ignition uses 28 degrees BTC. Dan.

RE: Brison engine ignition problems.

I don't know exactly,, I don't have a super accurate way of measuring it,
I eyeballed it to 28-30 as suggested just using a paper dial I downloaded and fine tuned it in from there,, once I found the sweet spot I knew it was right

Thanks. That's the way we all do it. It's good to hear that the RCXEL is capable of working with the Brisons. Dan.
