2/4 problem?

Has anyone had problem running magneto type engines with 2/4 radios?

Its 2.4 not 2/4, but anyway, I have a 1/3 scale Fokker D-VIII powered by a Zenoag GT-80 stock mag using a Spektrum DX7 with the AR7000 reciever. After two seasons of flying, not one single glitch.

Meaning the radio interfers with engine operation?...

On a more serious note, mag engine operate pretty much the same as an ignition engine. 2.4 will not salvage the situation if well understood procedures are violated.

Art, What's you're problem and are you following all the guide lines for R/C and gas engine installation?

Here's what Futaba recommends.

This is on sort of a tangent to the orignal question but I remember how so many posting in this forum were so excited that 2.4 was going to be their radio installation salvation when the spectrum was opened up. Oh the speculation that was running rampant back then, and the vociferous arguement that was received when anyone offered any disagreement with those positions. Radios would no longer be impacted by ignition generated EMI. 2.4 was "immune" from interference.

Funny how each frequency type or spread has carried with it the same delusions. Happened with AM, then FM, followed once again by 2.4. Probably be viewed the same with 5.8 if and when things go that way.

RE: 2/4 problem?

True, but mis-named.

I've used all of them with gas engines and the only time I had an EMI issue with any of them was when I did something wrong. Hell, I've never even gotten radio "hits" from other users on any them. However, I've seen a great many people running up and down a runway yelling "I'm getting hit, I'm getting hit".........

2.4 Airtronics with a G38 on mag, no problems.

You did have to bring one of the two best 2.4 systems into the discussion, didn't you?;)
