I need help identifying an engine

I have an engine I was told is a Zenoah 38, it isn't. It has the same configuration as the G-38 almost, the G-38 mount doesn't line up with the crankshaft. I has a foil label that says s/n 7600 and the engine case is marked made in Canada, any ideas on what I have?

Moreno Valley? You're right over the hill from me, it would be easier to show you the engine than post a picture. I'll try anyway

Travelair, your right over the hill! I am a member of Gilman Springs flyers, our field is on Gilman Springs rd. Come on over today and check us out. Heres a couple pics of a Quadra 35, made in Canada. Great engines.

Just curious, what is the weight of the Quadra 35, with muffler, mount, spring starter, and flywheel? Thanks

RE: I need help identifying an engine

Hey thanks for the pics, it could be it, I don't have the correct muffler or the rear cone mount but the rest looks right. I've been to your club, I'm the president of the Chino Flying club at Fishermans Retreat. We visit with each other all the time. My name is Harry Hill.

I have to go look but I don't think my coil is red, does the mounting cone have a recoil spring starter in it? It's still raining here this morning, how is it on your side of the hills?

Okay, looking over the engine more, two bolt holes for the muffler, venturi on carb is extremely small, case marked made in Canada, has the number 80 cast in the lower case, the number 81 cast just below fins on cylinder, flywheel marked made in USA. I looked at another picture of a Quadra 35 and it had for holes for the muffler, my engine has two. The back of the engine appears the same as a G-38/quadra 35 but the cranks is lower than the g-38. I don't know what I have

AFAIK all the Quadra 35-42 and US 35-41 engines have four exhaust bolt muffler mounting holes. Two horizontal pattern and two vertical pattern.

RE: I need help identifying an engine

If that is the case then I don't have a Quadra engine, this is perplexing

RE: I need help identifying an engine

The spark plug on the Quadra / US 35/41 engines angeled to the rear

If you would post a picture, we might be able to identify the engine in a hurry?

Hi Harry, I'm Duane from Gilman Springs. I always fly with Terry at the Cub flyins at your field. My Cub is the 1/4 scale blue clipped wing model. We got Rained/blown out this year, but Mel and I were there early AM, paid our $6, and were rairin to go! Your motor sure sounds like a Quadra, but as w8eye says, 4 bolts for the muffler....Pics would be good.... Space worm, weight of quadra in my pic, with spring starter, flywheel, mounting cone and muffler is right at 4lbs. Very compact motor, rear muffler and carb is tucked in close to the side. I buy them whenever I see them for sale at swap meets! :^) Duane

Not being able to look at a picture my guess is that it is a "Wupperman" with a fixed hemulator and side rotating Johnson arm.

Sorry...I couldn't help throwing a little humor your way.

Duane, did you notice on two bolt holes for the muffler?

RE: I need help identifying an engine

It an old style Quadra in the 35cc to 42 cc range.

I understande that the bottom cover of the crankcase is different between the 35cc and the others? But I don't know what thee difference is.
