RE: Engine question please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If more scale-like flying preferred then the Zenoah. Either will do a great job. A Saito FA-125 would also be interesting.

RE: Engine question please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How about a DLE 30? Simple, reliable and powerful.
|
RE: Engine question please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The DLE30 or similar engines are also an excellent fit in this airplane.

RE: Engine question please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The DLE20 can be rail mounted, and will likely hide inside the cowl best, but I'm with Truck...have some fun with the 30 :) There are also lots of airframes out there that are appropriate for the 30, for when its time to move your equipment from the cub into something else...

RE: Engine question please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My first thought was a 30 too. You should see one of those fly in the hands of a decent 3D pilot! Realizing that's not going to be appreciated by many that think of a Cub in more sedate terms, I don't know how you could go wrong with the DLE20. Wild or mild, your call....
There's only about 8 oz. and 2" of prop difference in those 2 engines. Nobody could say you were wrong going either route? |
RE: Engine question please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The DLE 20 has plenty of power for the CUB .... any way you look at it. I prefer the 30 because it sounds a bit less like a glo engine .... less of the 2 stroke sound ... especially if you keep the thing throttled back for scale like flight. But when you need it, you won't have any problem climbing to altitude with the 30!

RE: Engine question please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Go on YouTube and watch some video,s of them. I like the sound of a 4 stroke engine the best in a cub. If you look for good used engines you can have a 4 stroke & a 2 stroke. A 30 DLE can be found fairly cheap...for later on a more zippy airplane. Just my 2 cents........Capt,n
