DLE35RA Can I use a 6.6 volt life batt with no regulator?

This will be my 1st gas plane for the end of next summer I hope.

Aeroworks 30cc Edge 540

I want this setup as simple as I can do it.

I want to use a 6.6 volt life battery without a voltage regulator for
the ignition on a DLE35RA.

Does anyone have this setup and how well does it work?

Jimmy

Somebody feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but thinking the 35RA was introduced AFTER the switch to 8.4v ign. modules. So to answer your question, sure, go for it.

Yes the specs say 4.8 to 8.4 volts

Yes, and it should be printed right on the label of the ignition box.

Has anyone suggested to instal an IBEC from Tech-Aero, It will give you the option to adjust the voltage for the ignition and it will give you the means to kill the engine via a switch using the radio.

Jimmy, i have two DLE-55RA's set up with 6.6v Life battery packs on ignition. Works great, your 35 will work the same. There is no need to add other gadgets, it only creates another failure point, just my opinion. Good luck with the new project.

Nope, just answered the OP's question.

Good suggestion on the IBEC though. I use them on most of my planes. Excellent product.

Well, if we're going to wander of topic in this direction, I'll mention I favor the Rcexl switch. I'm guessing they know what they're doing as they are made by the same people that make the ignition modules.

Exactly what I have been using for about 8-10 months. Lots of flying, no glitches. I usa a Hobbyking 1100 6.5 pack...........
