RCS 44B2 engine
Fellas,
Does anybody out there know the real reason why RCS dropped the 44B2 twin? RCS told me they didn't want it to compete with the rest of the RCS line. I think it filled a specific purpose in their line. Even though the engine is still in ads as late as December issues of RC mags, they can't be had anymore. Any of you that have the engine, how did you like them? Just curious. Reg Mason :D |
RE: RCS 44B2 engine
I don't think the engines sold well since there was a fire sale with a sharp price reduction at the end. I have one of the engines. The RCS 44 runs well, runs very smooth and puts out about average power for its displacement. My engine turned a 20 x 8 wide bladed prop at 6500-6700 rpms. This engine has less power than the ZDZ-40 and weights more but runs smoother. I really don't have a application for my engine, so if you are looking for one, email me and perhaps we can swing a deal.

RE: RCS 44B2 engine
I have two of them and I like them.
Mike Dooley told me they dropped the model due to low sales of only about 100 units, this due to lower price and weight, and higher performance of the 40cc single. Anyone know if they have dropped the reed valve single 40cc too? Anyone spoken to Mike Dooley lately? I dont see answers in the mfg help forum here at RCU in the last while. |
RE: RCS 44B2 engine
You can still get the engine form zdz-motor.de. They are listed for about $700 + shipping from Germany.
I have one of the RCS units. Its a great engine for my use. It has about the same power as my G-45. If its max power you want go elswhere. |
RE: RCS 44B2 engine
Yep....I agree and bought mine because I love the engine side of the sport.I ran mine in a 83" lazy ace bipe all summer and at numerous flyins, and the interest it caused was surprising...........

The wingspan is 86" but I cut an inch off of each tip in order to get it into the rocket box that sits on the top of my car. |
