us41 conversion to electronic ingition

what is the cost of putting electronic ignition on a US 41 engine. Also would the ignition cost more than the engine is worth. Thanks for your reply. Wayne

CH Ignition....$169.95. Remove coil and flywheel, replace with ignition and new flywheel.
Result is same as Reids Cheeta DX.

Wayne,

I did it to my very low time US41 using the CH system out of necessity. The magnet broke off the front of the case without a crash to help it. The results have been very satisfactory ... cheaper than a new case.

Hi Bedford, Did you see any improvement in top end and is it easy to hand start. How much does it weigh now. Is $ 169.00 what you paid for the ignition from C.H. Thanks for your reply. Wayne

Personally, I like RC Ignitions much better than the CH conversion--It is cheaper than a CH (I have had more than 1 CH die on me and a few had developed RF niose--Ralph's has a lifetime warranty). It has a mechanical advance which a lot of people don't like, but I find it makes for a smoother transition.

PM ralph at RCIGN1 His conversions are top-notch.. my guess is that his prices will be the same or lower and he does all the setup! You send him your engine and you get back the conversion.. FAST!

My friend has one of his converted G26's... runs like a raped ape!

Wayne,

The running of the engine is very good with the CH. I don't notice a difference in the top end, but do get a good, low reliable idle. Also, I find the guys at CH very helpful. I figure I lost close to 10 ozs. when I lost the flywheel and spring starter. As well as I remember (a few years back, it was), $169 is about the price I paid.
