Hi,

58 is not in magnesium crankcase, only 45.

Same weight as the 58 IRS 1820 grams + 165 grams for ignition.
No info on Mag case.

Do you guys recommend using the supplied break in oil or using lawnboy ashless, mobil xtr2 ?, or amsoil dominator, pennsoil air cooled......the list continues. What about preferences after break in?

RE: Evolution 58

Greyhound,

MVVS included the oil with the engine, to facilitate your break-in.

By all means, do use that oil and after your are done with the break-in, use high quality, racing two-cycle oil.

The engine comes with the Mobil 1 MX2T. I'm using it from the beginning, but others are using the pennzoil.

RE: Evolution 58

Peensoil is fine --except it does gradually carbon things and does not prevent piston scratches as well as the Mobil .

Wait...
TOm from wildhare rc told me NOT to run the stock oil that came with the engine! Intead he said I should use Penzoil Air Cool 2-stroke oil for break-in and flying?[&:]

RE: Evolution 58

Hey Mvvs says use 2cycle racing synthetic ( even gives you some) and theres plenty to choose from at 32-40:1 so ignore the manufacturer and use a semi synthetic. I take it Tom will warranty it when it has a problem?:)

a friend of mine just got one of these engines.

but we have a question, there are 3 fuel lines on the carb and one in the crankcase.

i figured one was the carb pressure line and one is the feed line, but whats the third one for?? and how do we make sure which one is which??

also, is the crankcase line a pressure line or a crankcase vent line??

thanks
tony

the inlet closest to the sparkplug is the ambient air press line. it is open to atmosphere. i use a piece of tubing back to the fuselage and seems to work well.

RE: Evolution 58

the crankcase line is the pulse out to the carb to make it pump connect it to the carb.
As said above for the 90o fitting which is on the plate with 4 screws.
3rd is for fuel which on mine is the only one on the side of the carb.

RE: Evolution 58

Tony, Andy,

The third nipple is placed on the 'float chamber' diaphragm cover and should supply atmospheric pressure.
Nothing needs to be connected to it.

The black nipple is the fuel inlet and is to be connected to the fuel tank line.

The pump diaphragm nipple is closest to the crankcase pulse nipple and should be connected to it, for the carburettor's pump to operate.

thanks for the answers guys!!

RE: Evolution 58

The 3rd nipple is best connected to something and led into the Fuselage so it sees constant pressure its easy enough to attach fuel tubing to it and them maybe you wont have changing pressure on the carb. Nice that they fitted it instead of having to solder it on yourself.

Just ordered a MVVS 58 PROsport with a BCM wrap-around muffler. Anyone tried this set-up? What props/rpms did you get?

regards,

Angus

Guys, does anyone know if this engine has the same muffler bolt pattern of the ZDZ50NG? so I can use the same supersonic muffler on it.
Like you greyhound, I´m looking for a little more power, my YAK came out too heavy!!! this engine looks like a good option.

Juanes,

The most effective silencer from a power output standpoint, is the MVVS #3204, with the #3202/B or P header.
There is, I believe a similar one from EVO.

RE: Evolution 58

Juanes,

the bolts are about 1 3/8 apart on the zdz and about 1 5/8 on the EVO so unless you are a good machinest you'll need a new muffler.

with the EVO the yak came out 18 lb 11 oz RTF I have only had the chance to fly it once with this setup but I can already tell a night and day difference between the two...tons more power with the evo

I think it was 6400 with a BME 24/10 on mine but I will re check this weekend. BCM muffler. Moving the prop CCW more resolved the running backwards.

Juanes,

The bolt spacing for the MVVS exhaust port is 46 mm, center-to-center.

Where did you order the Pro sport version of this engine. I thought all the new MVVS 58's were updated to the better bearings. I also thought the hp was the same. Can you tell me more about this? Thanks

Pe, I also e-mailed you about price, shipping, taxes, and duties. Is there a noticable power increase with the Prosport over the standard 58? Thanks
