New BME engines

In the Taurus engine thread I alluded to the fact that I had heard some info on some new gas motors on the horizon. I didn't know if I should give any details, so I didn't mention any names or specific info.....well I've been told it is ok to "leak" a little info on these engines.

First, they are from BME. The two engines I can mention are an all new 100 and 150.

Also a disclaimer: I am not in any way affilitated with BME. I came upon this info when talking with Keith at BME when I was talking to him about Taurus'. Let it be known, I am still a Taurus fan, and it will take a lot to turn me in any other direction.

They will be called the Xtreme series. The first will be a twin cylinder called the 100 Xtreme. It is 4.0 lbs bare and BME is claiming it has the most power in its class. I was told it will turn a 28x10 Mejzlik at 6400-6500 out of the box. He did tell me this is leaned out and shouldn't be run this lean until broken in.

They also have a 150 that has been designed, tested and is ready for production. There are no other details on this one.

Keith said that these engines have over a year of flow testing and design work in them for maximum perfomance and durability.

He didn't give me any dates for production, but I would guess in the March time-frame for the 100.

Any info on reeds or rotary valve, and are they using their own design of cylinder or is it borrowed from another application?

More details?

Hi Diablo,

That's all the info I have that I was told it was ok to share. You can always write or call BME and see if you can extract more info from them.

BME 150..

I met Keith at the 2000 TOC..my room was across the hall from his. We visited for a while, I bought some shirts and a hat, etc. He told me he was planning a 150 back then.

Keith is fan of reed valve induction.

I was led to understand the cylinders are of proprietary design origin... As is the lower end.

The 102 is said to be fitted with the new Extreme jugs...

Half of a 102 is going to be ??? :D

BME

I just got my BME 102 in the mail. WHOOOOOPPPPPIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!
This is a very cool motor and lighter that I'd even imagined. When the box came I swear I thought it must not be the box with the engine. I thought I recieved the box with the spinner, props and batteries. Much to my surprise. I like it.
