Zenoah engine problems

Hello
wondering if anyone can help me,i have just rebuild my zenoah g230rc with

25.5cc race ported big bore kit
1mm stuffer crank
lighten flywheel
race ported carb

problem is it wont start,i have a spark and fuel, not sure about the settings for the race carb but tried all sorts, maybe its not sparking under compression, dont know what else to try, very grateful if anyone has any ideas

Look at the engine conversion thread's and you will probably find your answer. All kinds of info. on getting engines started with carb. and other modifications. Good luck.

Did you lighten the flywheel by taking the Magnets out of it [sm=lol.gif]

Why would you do all this work and sacrafice reliability for a little more power ? You can buy a new G-26 for 300 bucks !

An airplane G26 is a different animal, with a different crankcase, won't fit on the scooter.....It's posssible the flywheel key is not there or maybe the keyway in the new flywheel is not in the right place...It will spark but if not in the right place...Maybe you could compare the new light flywheel with the older one to check location of the keyway...

Thanks everyone,i even put back the old flywheel and the old carb, but still nothig,it all worked ok before i striped the engine, its a very testing problem, just wanted to get a few more horses out of the engine, would the longer crank be a problem with the timing

Only if the keyway is not in the same place...

keyway is in the same place, but another interesting fact, for some reason fuel is being blown back through the carb,i removed the carb, found alot of pressure being pump out when engine is spun over

Sounds like way too much intake duration..anything over 140 degrees is not helping anything..
Betcha the race porting is the culprit, it was probably done to be used with a reed valve inder the carb....:D

This thread should be renamed to "User Modified Zenoah Engine Problems" As it stands it implies that the engine alone is the issue.

what the hell is a race ported carb??

start by turning your high and low needles out 2 turns from closed.

what make of carb is it?? got a photo to show us??

have you got any gasket leaks??...check by using soapy water and brush it around the gaskets and slowly turn the engine over. if you get bubbles thats where a leak will be.

Well, now, it IS a "Zenoah Engine Problem"...the engine has a problem...its problem is that its owner broke it. ;)
