RE: How long does it take?

I know one thing that is sure in all these warranty cases with all service companies. If you CALL them, it dramatically speeds things up. Why? Because they are having to CALL other people and get their approval. Playing phone tag, lost emails, waiting for the customer to CALL them back.

You CALL them, give them approval and suddenly your issue is in front of the other folks still waiting for a CALL back and approval.

Curtis:

A few months ago I returned a new Evolution 58, and it took three weeks for Horizon to open the box. They then quickly identified the faulty ignition, and snail mailed the engine and new ignition to me. So... although I would have liked faster service, what I got was OK; as the engine worked when I placed it on a test stand.

Fly safe, Glover

This is the kind of posts that make it a joy to fellowship with fellow flyers on RCU. Thanks Glover, and may each landing be your best.

RE: How long does it take?

UPDATE:

Horizon has had the engine 2 weeks today. I called last week and i was told it takes 5 to 7 work days to perform service on an engine. I called today and was told it was still in for service but the guy on the phone, ( he is the same on that got snotty with me) said he couldnt tell me any more. i asked if they had even checked it yet and he said his computer didnt give updates.
Seems i was a little too expectant of a quick resolution of this situation. Looks like it could be several weeks before i know anything on my engine. So the answer to my original question is more than two weeks. Makes me wonder about these people who claim they got their service in less than a week.

Well do you know exactly when they received it?

Do you know that it's the middle of summer and this is a busy time for repairs since there are more planes in the air during the summr more are crashing or need repair?

They mean 5-7 business days which is closer to 2 weeks when you look at a calendar. If you take into account shipping, it really adds the time.

I kinda would expect two weeks from anybody...thats why I hate to send my engines in.

You need to adjust you expectations a bit. I think you can start thinking about complaining but it needs to be closer to 3-3.5 weeks before you can honestly say this service delay is excessive.

Synergy, I sent it UPS and looked up the tracking # online.

3-D, i am sure you are right. After reading some of the posts telling about short turn around times i was really hoping for a quick turn around also. Look like i will have to re-adjust my expectations as you suggested. But they have had the engine 10 business days today.

Can anyone guess why the Horizon rep may have become "snotty"?

Shoulda gone with a Taurus. After calling the manufacturer to let them know an engine I crashed was going to be coming they had it back to me 8 days from the day I sent it[sm=thumbup.gif][sm=shades_smile.gif]

Well, still out of stock on the needle valve for .46NT. This is two months now. Hows that for support? I'm not a happy camper.

Wild,
I would just tellem to take one out of a new one and they could put it back in when they come in. Either that or give you the name of a dealer who stocks their engine parts. Frankly, i am not impressed at all. I really don't know how hard it is to check a faulty ignition, you would think with all the practise they have had it would be no problem.

We cannot expect a perfect landing if our approach sucks.

It sucks you have had what appears to be some bad luck with Horizon and this engine. Overall I have heard and experienced quite the opposite regarding Horizon's customer service, so hopefully they will make things right with you, and keep incidents like this minimal.

Arobatix,

i don't know about you but when i spend $600.00 on a product i expect it perform as advertised. Getting the runaround, unreliable information and just rude treatment is not my idea of good service after the sale. If you like being treated that way then be my guest.

I'm locking this thread up because it serves no useful purpose except to bash a product and vendor.
