Does any one have experience with Horizon/Evolution warranty? How long does it usually take to hear something?
Do they call you and tell you or just send you something in the mail?
Any help is appreciated.

Oh this is a surprising thread to see.

Jugflier....why don't you call them for goodness sakes? I'm sure it depends on how many engines are in that week and who is on vacation.

I agree. Give them a call. Usually they will simply fix or replace something that's still under warranty and return it without calling you. The time of year has an impact on how fast they get to any given item. Late spring through middle fall and they get pretty busy. Mae the call an look into it first hand.

My thread is addressed to any one having experience with Horizon/Evolution service. If you don't have experience, they you need to stay out. As for being a marked man, this aint my first rodeo.

In my experience, whether it be engines or any other Horizon product, I call em the day after it was delivered. I don't live too far away from them, still however, I usually get things back at my door within a week.

I do have experience with Horizon service and said as much on the thread you singlehandedly undermined. Their CS is fantastic, and have turned around damaged parts the same week with a postage paid return tag for the damaged part enclosed. Didn't even wait for damaged part to be returned to issue replacement. This was on two separate airframes, not engine parts. Could be a different division.

Reincarnate,
The other night after you assaulted me in the other thread i spent some time reading your posting history. 99% of all your posts are in threads concerning Horizon products. The other 1% you go into other product threads and try to turn them into Horizon threads. last of all you seem to be the antagonist to anyone critical of Horizon in any way. The only conclusion a sensible person could make is that you are a paid drone, a hitman as such protecting the interst of Horizon on this site. Anyone who wants to check this out need only spend a little time on your posting history. Your previous post serves only as an advertisement for Horizon.
i know who you are, and now everyone knows.

Jugflier...they have different workloads on any particular week. I have used Horizon repair and a dozen others before--and they are all the same. If you ask 10 people who have experience with Horizon customer service, you will get 10 different answers on how long it will take. IMHO your just gearing up and setting up a new thread to complain again about how much longer its taking for your engine to get repaired and how they have singled you out.
[>:]
The last time I used Horizon I called them up and they told me that they were getting a new repair person in that week and so they were backed up this week but would get to it next week and they did.
So your in a Rush, call them up and ask them if you can pay an extra fee to have your engine rushed out and sent overnight....many repair and warranty places are happy to accomodate those kinds of requests if they can.
You do have a phone right?...its like your just coming on here to complain or find the next possible area to complain about. I'm sure they would much rather here directly from you....

Thank you Tim. Any idea about how long it takes to turn something around? Do they call you?

I have had very good luck with them. They can be ever so slightly difficult to reach but usually even if you cannot get them, if you leave a message they will call you back. In my experience they are very fair and the turnaround is usually timely. Sometimes it takes longer due to circumstances, but I have never had them drag their feet on anything.

Mike East,
If they look at it and deem it not to be warranty, then what? I am sure they will want you to pay for repairs, do they call you? Or send a letter? If they repair or replace it under warranty, do they notify you? Or does it just show up at your door?

Without speaking for Mike East, most of the known world is calling them, before whatever process they have configured for folks that send in $400 engines and are never heard from again except on user forums, kicks in.

Jug,
I am sure that its no different than any other company that does warranty work. If its not covered under warranty then sure they will want you to pay for the repairs and rightfully so. They will probably contact you via email or phone, whatever method of contact you provided them with and let you know what they will or will not do. If you did not provide them with contact info then they will probably mail you back.
As was said before, you just need to call and ask them, they will talk to you about it. You can find their telephone number on theo www.horizonhobby.com website.
If you sent something back to them, you should have talked to them on the phone or via email. Typically they will give you an ID number to identify your claim. Just call them and give them that reference number. IF you did not call and get a reference number or at least have a contact name then you might have to do a little research to locate your stuff. You will just have to work it out with them.

Here is my experience with Horizon Hobby (JR Service).... I bought 5 used JR 2721 servos from a guy here on RCU last year. These were installed in my newly built Miled Reed Extra 260. I was told the were slightly used and in excellent condition. Cosmetically they looked new. The maiden voyage went off without a hitch and I flew the airplane about 10 times until the cold weather set in. Well after a long winter I head out to the field and set up the airplane. When I start my range check I notice the rudder servo is occilating badly. I tried the usual system checks and I conclude the servo is bad. I send it to Horizon and in a total of 8 days (all tolled) I get a brand new 2721 in the mail saying they replaced it under warranty even though it was used
I now become concerned with the other 4 servos and upon manually testing them (rotating back and forth by hand I detect alot of play in all of them around center. Now I realize these servos were probably not "slightly used". I send the remaining 4 back for a checkup. Four days later I get a call from a JR tech and he says the gears are badly worn in all of them and 2 servos had bad pots. He said he replaced the gears in all of them (at no charge) and recomended replacing the 2 bad pots. I told him to replace the pots in all the servos at my expense. I believe the total bill including shipping for 1 new and 4 completly rebuilt 2721s .. $39.00.. PRICELESS!!
Keep in mind these servos are $100.00[8D] apiece. I'm totally satisfied with Horizon Hobby.

My experiences wth Horizon (although not specifically Evolution so perhaps I'm unqualified to provide input) is that if you have a product in for repair that does not meet warranty standards they will call or e-mail you. Both have happened with me. Then again you had to provide a phone number and e-mail address for those to happen.
So if that information is not satisfactory so be it. In many years of working with Horizon I've never had reason to complain about the service or their service policies. Some of those times have included engines returned for service as well. Just not Evolution engines. With the number of Evolutions in use I'm sure you won't have all that many people to obtain a response from.
