Stihl conversion of 029 engine?
I'm almost finished with my Poulan Pro 54 engine.
I came across a Stihl model 029 saw for less than $30 at a local engine repair shop. I believe this is about 55cc or 56cc. Anyone done a conversion on this particular saw? Thanks |
Stihl conversion of 029 engine?
029 56.5cc yes I have done one the power is great but it is about 3/4 lb. heavier than the older 56.5cc the 031 and 032, you need to make a beam mount just like the poulan 42cc it is put together the same way and a carb mount that I can make for you if you like.the total weight after making a prop adapter carb mount and beam mount brackets will be a little over 4 lbs where the 031 and 032 will be just under 3 lbs so if you dont mind the weight then it would make a great power plant.it is also a drop in engine so no triming of the case is needed.I can make any parts for this engine you like just email me.

Stihl conversion of 029 engine?
I got the saw this afternoon. It needed a carb.
I went to another small engine shop and got a used carb for $15. This saw is in such good shape. I think I'll just sell it on Ebay. It looks like these saws are bringing around $150 on Ebay. I've got $45 in it. Nice work on yours bn120. Thanks for the reply and infom on weight. |
