Gas engine question

I asked this question in the regular engine forum and it was suggested that it would be better over here so.

I am thinking about switching to gas a engine. I fly mostly 90 to 120 4c engines now. Is there a reasonable gas engine in that size range you experts can recommend?

What type and size plane do you want to put it in. it make all the difference in the world as to which engine to use.

BME has a new 30cc in the works. Kieth says "should weigh a tad over one pound and will blow the glow plugs off the ys and saito stuff". should be worth the wait!

I sure would like to get a peek at this new 30cc engine from BME.

Gas engine question

The New Zenoah G-26 I think is a great first gas engine and it would fit nicely in most 120 size models. I also like the G-38 but a bit larger and of course I love the ZDZ 40cc engine! I have this one in a 1/4-scale 88 inch Fokker D-VII

The new G-26, is a good choice, but for the same weight you can get a BME 50 to name one.

The advantage of the G-26 is the cost compared to the others.
I think Ralph (rcign1) has been running a g-26, with some impressive numbers.

The little RCS1.4 is a pretty good gasoline engine - and weighs about 30 ozs-
As long as the gasoline engine is burning "gasoline" --and runs in the 8000-1000 rpm range -the power to weight will be pretty much the same -
If someones future design - same size, same fuel - running in same rpm range delivers a huge power increase -I will be surprised
Now then - if one adds a tuned exhaust setup to the equasion -the power can really leap.

Dick Hanson,

I agree, the RCS 140 is a nice engine. I have been running one on a H9 edge, not unlimited but very nice.

I know you had talked about a pipe on this engine and I have both the whisper tech and v tech, but never got to try them. I wouldn't have thought about it if you had not mentioned it.

The plane is gone, but maybe I will get a chance to try it with the pipe. Which is better between the two Whisper tech or v tech.

The Vtech - (small one for .60 ) at about 16" overall - try that - use a prop for about 9000 rpm
