I picked this baby out of mud from near the lake side I fly at.

There is no brand what so ever printed on it, as far as I can see. The carb is a walbro and the ignition is a CH ignition unit that says "made in USA".

I cleaned it out with water and now its cooking in the antifreeze bath. Once its clean enough I will dissasemble it to see if I can salvage it or not.

Even if I do salvage it, I wont be using it on a serious airframe anyway. Just a fun and free project.

Does anyone make out what brand and model it is from the pics?

Here are the shots:

Echo based. Possible 44. BME used the design, and a CH ignition, but I'm not certain of the prop hub. If you get it cleaned up and the crank is in good shape you'll have a good engine.

It is a BME for sure.:D:D What really gives it away is the lightening of the prop hub.:D:D It most lickly is the 50CC Classic.:D Although they did make a 40 something sport version Too!

It will be interesting to see if you can fix it up with little to no investment. You have nothing to loose.

If you could get this cheap enough you could take the coversion parts off the old ingine and take out the engine block in chain saw and use them on it.

RE: Please ID this engine

Well I tried to clean up as much as I could, but this engine is history. The crankcase is corroded - fins crack and break like biscuits, all the screws are corroded beyond repair - cant open it up.
I can see the inside from the carb opening and the conrod is fubar. probably so is the crankshaft, conrod needle bearings, normal bearings.. the carb is beyond repair, I would have to buy a new one.
I tried to get off the muffler but one of the bolts broke so I drilled it out with a same diameter drill bit but the muffler is basically welded to the exhaust port - I couldnt remove it even with a heavy plastic hammer..

unfortunately the cost of repairing and restoring this engine is no where near logical.. Its probably been down in the lake for over 3-4 years..

Its kind of "case closed" :(
