A number of groups are running or have run Slow Quickie races with .25-.28 engines on standard Q-500 airframes. Some use the two pole set up, and some have used 3 pole courses in either the short course or the 300' x 300' x 60' 1/2A course.
I've flown an OS 25 FX powered Predator on the 1/2A course and it was a hoot. On the short course it's a little easier to handle for those just starting out on their racing journey.
Should this event be left up to local rules writers, or is there enough merit in it to put it into the rule book? I would propose that the name of the event be Q-500 Novice.
One thing that would be beneficial would be getting setbacks that are smaller than the current 300' minimum for all events. This could be an event that can be run at sites that can't host the short or long course.
