Pylon Racing O.S. .46 SkyRaiders

RE: Pylon Racing O.S. .46 SkyRaiders
Well, check out the threads for "Club 40". Here in South-Central Texas we have been racing Skyraiders for 2 years. The guys in Florida have been racing Skyraiders for 3 years. It seems like a very popular thing to do.
Are you in any way affiliated with the AMA? If so, have you made sure that you are in compliance with the Safety Code?
Seriously, check out the discussions about "Club 40"
Best to you,
Ken Erickson

Is your group aware that the Sky Raider Mach II is now available in solid colors with CA hinges so that they are easy to trim or re-cover?
The price is the same and they come in four colors:
A178PW - pure white
A178PY - pure yellow
A178PO - pure orange
A178PR - pure red
The Texas group and others are limiting the engines to .40 because of AMA regulations compliance.
The RCPRO Club 40 rules ([link=http://www.Club40Racing.com]www.Club40Racing.com[/link]) currently do not allow .46 engines. However, allowing the .46 engines has been discussed because there are a number of groups that are allowing .46 engines.
I have an O.S. 46 AX on a Sky Raider Mach II and I have found it to be 3-5 mph faster than the Thunder Tiger Pro 40 powered planes. Using an APC 11x4 brings it down in speed to about the same as the .40 powered planes.

RE: Pylon Racing O.S. .46 SkyRaiders
Hello Vic -
I'm with the South Texas group and we are also racing 'Raiders and LA Racers. We use .40's so we can run the shorter set back allowed by AMA. We also run on a much shorter course than you. Ours is 400' (2 pole). We have several clubs involved (6) and rotate between fields every 3 weeks.
Do you time the Sky Raider events? I would be interested in the airspeeds you are getting with the .46 engines.
Wow! a 1000' course! I'm not sure I could see that far! Your field must be HUGE! Are you using a standing start or a flying start?

Vic, I have not seen the Xoar props before, look interesting. Who is the U.S. Distributor? Or, do you have to order them through Europe? Also, when you say Xoar 10x7 are you talking about the wood (beechwood) or Nylon version?

Vic,
Not trying to start any thing, just curious. What set back distances are you using on your course? i.e. distance from pylon line to pilots and pylon line to spectators?
We are looking at trying to get some new courses into the AMA rule book and any information would be helpful.
If you prefer, e-mail me.
