Default VESS prop tiny damage - how serious is it?

After flying today, I noticed a tiny chip on my new vess prop (only flew it 2 times). Also, it is located at the leading edge. The prop size is vess 23A. Width of the chip is less than 1 mm.

Here is a pic of the prop with the damage,

Is it safe to continue using this prop?

Thanks in advance!

If that was my prop, I'd fill that chip with thick CA. Sand it down smooth and fly it.

Would epoxy be better since this prop is laminated (glossy). I guess if I sand it, it will loose the lamination around that tiny spot. And the lamination has a function of smoothing air flow over the prop blade.

Sure, epoxy works too. I wouldn't bee too concerned with it, if that was my prop. I'd definitely fix it, but I wouldn't go nuts worrying about it after I smeared some CA or epoxy on and sanded it.

Use masking tape around the damaged spot before you apply the glue. Tape it. Glue it. Sand it. Peel the masking tape off. That will help protect the surrounding wood and epoxy finish.

I would just drop some thin CA in it and then rebalance the prop.

do you think I need to rebalance it even with a very small amount of ca?

I wouldn't think so. That little weight difference will not affect anything.

Yes, if it were mine, I would check the balance. I love Vess props but they are terrible for mishaps where they are so thin. I hit a bumblebee with a 22B and took a good chunk out of the tip!!!!!!![>:]

I would disagree with this... when we balance props... simply by spraying a light mist of clear coat and the light end can change the balance.....

People would be surprised at how easily a prop can get out of balance....even some grass or bug juice can throw one off!!!!!

put a piece of masking tape on the rear of the prop put some baking soda in the daaged area not too tick put a drop of thin ca on the soda add a bit moe soda and thin ca untilfilled pull tape off sand with fine sand paper add clear finish or even nail polish and go fly checking ballance is always a good thing
this works on full size wooden and composite props

Why would you not at least check the balance?

I do it similar, but I make up some balsa, or maple, or oak, sanding dust to pack the chip. Blends right in when done.
