Lanier Edge 540T or Hangar 9 Edge 540
Ok Guys help me out. I am going to run a Saito 1.80 in the plane and I want to be able to 3D. The wing span on the Lanier is 73" verses the Hangar 9 @ 78". I understand the all up weight on the H9 is just under 12lbs and the Lanier is about the same?
Any feed back from owners of these 2 planes would sure help in my decision.
Thanks!

Edge 540/Saito Combo
Jim; I had the Hanger 9 Edge/ Saito 180 combo, loved it, but sold it after 1 1/2 years. You have to fly it (or any Edge) with authority, or it will tend to snap on you at very slow speed. Be prepared to get only 7-8 flights from a gallon of fuel. The Saito is a wonderful engine with a huge appetite..........
P.S. Where do you fly your planes? Thompson, Bashers, Burton?

Lanier Edge 540T or Hangar 9 Edge 540
I have a H9 edge with saito 1.80 and I love it! I built it light, I am at 11lbs 5ounces ready to fly. I changed gear to carbon fiber and installed 2 elvator servos on tail. I also moved tank to CG and used a CLINE regulator. No wheel pants used and installed CF spinner.
I followed book throws on normal mode and 3D mode, I also use 30% heli fuel and recomented APC prop size. I get approx 8 min flight time on stock tank.
This plane does not tip stall! flies awsome and has UNLIMITED vertical. By this i mean i can from a hover go full throutle and plane accelerates as i got vertical!

Lanier Edge 540T or Hangar 9 Edge 540
I have owned/flown both,I think the H-9 3d's a litle better, but both are very good flying planes.I lean toward the Lanier because of two peice wing. The H-9 is larger all around a little more bulky, the Lanier is more sleek.

Get a Patrick. Same weight as the H9 and 200 sq in more wing area. Will 3D awesome. Probably won't be a rocket but it will hover and probably climb out ok. It will have NONE of the stall problems of the H9.

After about 3 months of trimming we've been able to get ours to fly pretty well. Get it too slow and it will fall out of the sky. If you already have one it will fly well and you can make the best of it, if not, why bother. Youv'e read Skerlock's numerous posts, I'm sure, about the H9 Edge. He loved it. He now has the Dave Patrick and the H9 just sits...may never fly again. I had a H9 also and I thought it flew well also. It had a wing loading of 28.5 oz/sq'.
Skerlock's DP has a loading of 24 oz/sq'. Big difference in flight characeristics. It's about stopped before it stalls. My Lanier Cap has a loading of 23 oz/sq' and its like its filled with helium.
