Default Help with endpoints on 7955

My EF Extra 50cc needs more elevator throw. I dont want to move in to the next hole on the control horn because then I will have to set the endpoints low. My question is can I max out my endpoints on my radio (DX7) without issues or is there a certain percentage I should stay under. I used the recommended SWB arms of the right length and everything. I am using Hitec 7955's. Right now they are set to 115%. For some reason I am thinking I read somewhere to stay within 115%. But I may be mistaken.

my tx goes up to 150.i try not to go over 140 on 3d rates 1 1/4- 1 1/2 " arms will do the trick to get a lot of resolution. you definitely dont want the deflection *****g out under 100

You're fine at 115,,,
The servo throw optimum angles are 60 degree,, once you start going far past that you reach a point where more angle doesn't give you a lot more control surface throw,,Won't hurt the servo, it just produces a non eficiant expo curve at the end of the throw. IMO that's why you always want to set the plane up with arms that come close to that 100% EPA range as possible.

good luck

You have two issues jacking up the end points, especially with a DX7

The more sub trim you have the less room you have at one end of the throw to keep from hitting the stop.

Any mixing that adds to the surface will blow past that 100/100 and if you have the end points run up to 150 it will try to over drive the servo. Heck even if you have them to 100/100 and thats the mechanical limit of the surface and add a mix it will try to push past the end point. Radios like the 11x have a limit adjust and a travel adjust and limit adjust is a hard stop for the servo no matter what mixing or sub trim is involved

The 7955 can be programed for up to 180 degree throw,, I wouldn't worry too much about hurting it with the TX @ 150% EPA

That's one of those "yeah but...." deals....

First, you cannot run high resolution if you want the 180 degree sweep and the OP didn't mention whether or not he has a Hitec servo progammer?

Second, as mentioned above when you do that the actual linear movement produced at the control surface doesn't change a whole lot.

Third, "assuming" the use of JR tx which has a 150% setting where Futaba uses 140%, it's never a good idea to push the tx that far for reasons already mentioned....[8D]
