Does the manual say if the struts are mandatory for flite? I have purchased a used airplane and need to know if they are a must for flite?

Thank you,
Ken

Icould find no mention in the manual. But I feel they add an extra margin of safety against twisting the upper cabin and wing saddle. You can download the !82 manual in pdf format at top-flite.com.
Check out my 182 at http://home.san.rr.com/aircor
Happy flying

Default nope

I have the 182 and don't know if I've ever used the struts in 2 years of flying. The attachments on the struts definitely arent designed to carry much load where as the fully sheeted wing is clearly capable of carrying the loads - as shown when I snap roll it. No need besides appearance.
