PULL PULL SETUP WITH FISHING LEADER LINE
I understand that one can use fishing leader line for a pull pull setup in a 1/3 scale airplane. Has anyone had any experience with fishing leader line? If it does work, what would I be looking for ie manufacturer, diameter, test#, etc.?

Works Great, Less Filling.
Head to your local fishing supply store, or a K-Mart or WalMart. Get 40 pound test coated (with plastic) braided leader line. Pick up a package of ferrules (crimp tubes) while you're there.
Bigger plane? Use higher test leader.

You may have a hard time finding the leader at you local walmart. Walmart carries it, but only in regions where there is salt water fishing going on. I was on vacation in florida before I ever found it at walmart! I stocked up on it too!

If you have an Academy Sports store in your area, you may find it there, or maybe at Boater's World. I live on the South Texas coast, but cant get it at Walmart here either.

I use fishing line for all mine, much less expensive. Berkley and Surflon bot make nylon coated stainless steel braided line. For most uses 30 lb. test is more than sufficient although you can go all the way to 110 pound test..
I have even used plain nylon line with good success but prefer the steel braided if available. I was afraid the plain nylon would stretch but it did not.

It's because I've got the Dubro setup in another plane that's no longer flyable (boy is it no longer flyable). So I've got all the pieces and parts and would like to save $16.00 if I can get the line for a couple of bucks.

If you can't get the SS coated leader material, can you get some high test Spider Wire or some other kelvar based fishing line. No stretch and high test.
Tom, nothing wrong with the DuBro kit, but you can get enuff materials for 5 or 10 planes for the cost of one kit.

RE: PULL PULL SETUP WITH FISHING LEADER LINE
how much?
dubro part number rc 4-40 has a mfg suggested list of $ 8.25 for 15ft of cable and all fittings. I get mine at the LHS for $7.45 .
Its all there but no chasing all about town .

RE: PULL PULL SETUP WITH FISHING LEADER LINE
I started with the Dubro kit then went on to making my own. Might I also suggest Shimano crimping pliers. I bought the small and normal pair and they are awesome.
