Default not the same old engine question

Well I have an extra special out of the last group of planes tom got I was planing on putting a G62 in it as I owned it all ready. While wating for the plane I talked myself into getting the DA50 " love the combo". I ordered a edge 540 because the G62 still doesnt have a home. So the question is will I be as happy with the performace of the G62 in the edge as I am with the 50 in the extra? All the vidos I have seen on thies plane show the DA50 anyone know of vido of them with the G62?

thanks
scott

I'm flying my Extra Special with a G62. Its a good combo. Pull out from hover is not earth shattering, but its definite and solid. I can rotate straight up on take off and go as far as I want. I've done some knife edge loops and didn't find it lacking. I suspect the DA 50 would have a better power to weigt ratio, though. But the G62 flies it just fine!

Saturday, I saw a 300 Extra Special fly with a G-62 that had been converted to electronic ignition. The G-62 flew it nicely, and appeared to have plenty of power to hover.

Scott,

I posted some info about my 540T / G62 combo last week, and unfortunately can't remember were I posted it, but I said that my combo had come in at a couple oz. over 21 lbs. Which admittedly sounded ridiculous. Well it turns out that I was in fact wrong or I should say, the scale I used to weigh it, was. Anyway I used a digital fish scale to check it again and it came out 19 lbs 5 oz. Not satisfied, I took it to the local UPS and asked them to check it, and they got 19 lbs 4 oz. which made me feel good about the fish scale. This long story leads me to your question. Will it fly well on a G62? Mine flies good enough to do BASIC possibly SPORTSMAN level IMAC. It certainly will not climb "OUT-OF-SIGHT" or "HOVER FOREVER", but it does fly. Also at that weight it lands very fast. I have the stock G62, spring starter and magneto. I'm not sure what the Extra special weighs, but If it comes in around 16 to 17 lbs it should fly very well.

If the weight stays at or below 18-1/4 pounds, you will be able to do whatever you want with it.

I have the Edge 540 with a G-62 in it. This engine/plane combo is great for my type of sport/tumble type of flying. The engine pulls to airplane straight up until I can hardly see it, so I don't know why you'd want to go higher.........

I've got the Edge/g-62 combo and it flies great. Came in at 18 lb. 10 oz. Lands slow and will do anything you ask of it. Plenty of power to pull out of a hover. Same engine hovered my 20 lb. Giant Stinger just fine also. Don't be chintzy(sp ?) on the prop though. Get a good 22 x 10 Mejzlik or Menz and you shouldn't have any problems. Don't fool with a Zinger. Been there done that.
