Default GP Cap 580 1/3 scale

I just recieved GP 1/3 Cap 580 in the store and it is a amazing. This is GP first venture into ARF giant scale and they have left nothing out. I have't even unpacked it all yet but from what i see this plane is unbelivable. I plan on using a 3-w 120 in this one. As i learn more I'll let you all know. Dennis

Thanks for the report. I'll look forward to more info. I've only seen the .40 size and it is beautifull but too small.

I've been flying JS for several years now. Mostly H-9. I will be retiring one of my planes to get the radio stuff I need for this plane. I will post pictures when i can. Dennis

I've got the plane all over the floor of my store now looking at it, but no bats in the camera. Start driving and you can see the plane first hand. Dennis

I've got to put this plane up. I've been thru the hardware pack and it all looks good. they even gave me a pilot and fuel tank and panel. It also has a metal spinner that is painted blue. The servo arms that come with the plane can be used with any radio system. I'll have pictures Wed. or Thurs. I have to get this 35% Pitts model 12 out of the shop and in the trailer Sat. Will start the Cap Mon. Will keep you all updated has I go. I plan on building this plane as close to the book as I can, with few changes. This is one plane that you should be able to see in a thunder storm. The colors are wild. The story starts Monday. Dennis

This plane will put downward pressure on the prices of all the giant scale aerobats 33%+. I doubt H9 can keep charging $850 for their "short kit" when GP gives you the complete package for $700.

Competition in a free market. I love it!

Any chance that you could weigh the major components? I know the thing looks nice, I just want to know if it will be flyable on a ZDZ80 or not!

Heck, if you're going to wait that long why not just post the flight report also?

Dennis;

Does the 1/3 size Cap have Dihedral? The 40 size has a bunch of dihedral, I wasn't sure if the big one had some or if it was a stright wing.

Hey, Wed. is tomorrow, that fast.I did'nt even know the plane way coming in today. My rep did'nt know either. I have to clean out my work shop to make room. I have a 100in Pitts model 12 back here now, plus customers that keep getting in the way of the hobby. To answer a few of the questions. Tonyc, I looked at the wings and seen no dihedral in them. Robert C, I will do a weight as I go but from the size of this plane I would say no. The finish weight is 29 th32lbs. Wing area 1885 sq in. And wing loading 35-39 oz/sq ft. The engine range is from 70-120. I would think at 80cc would fly it slowly. Dennis

I love the scheme on this plane.
It also seems to be well thought out with nice accessories.
I just wonder why it's heavier than other 33% planes. Now that you have it in hand, can you tell why it's heavy?
Weight may not matter as much in KY, but I'm at 5,000 ft altitude!

I think the fush is over built, but wo't be sure until I get into it more. The real test is flying and if everything go right maybe in two or three weeks.Just starting to up the main gear on and even the wheel pants are be held on with 8-82 bolts. The main gear is in two pieces with 8-32 bolts X four on each side. Looks good and strong. Dennis

I got mine on Monday too!! This plane is huge!!! I can't wait to build it, I'm just taking my time and collecting more parts. I'm going to put a DA-100 in mine... I know that everyone keeps talking about the weight but I think the H9 33% are also rated for a 60cc-80cc engine. The Matt Chapman is rated for at least an 80cc all the way to 120cc!!!!
