42% Oracle Challenger Motor ?
Friend is scratch building 42% Pitts Oracle Challenger from plans. Plane should weigh around the 30 pound mark with a 93" wingspan. Originally was going to put a ZDZ 160 on it but is thinking that may be to much for that plane. Now thinking a DA 100.
Curious as to if anyone else has built and flown one or would have good input on a motor selection.
Thanks

RE: 42% Oracle Challenger Motor ?
I have the plans for that plane also. I am going to use a 3W 150 in it. Biplanes have a lot of drag, and will need more power than a monoplane of similar size. I think the best engine size for the plane would be a 3W 120, but since I have the 150, I am going to use it. The DA 100 would fly it fine, and it all depends on what you want to do with it. Scott

RE: 42% Oracle Challenger Motor ?
I have the "Short Kit " fot the 42% Challenger. Planning on using a 3W 120 on it. I'm just a Sport Pilot so the 120 will be plenty for my needs. I think Miles Reed has a 160 on his. Saw his plane at the I.M.A.A. Ralley Of Giants in Muncie a few years ago but I didn't see it fly. Only Seen it on video.
