Default If I wanted to do a great big D-VII....

It may never come to pass, but someday I'd like to consider a big Fokker D7.
But I've never built (or flown) any plane larger than a .90 size. And thus, I don't have any knowledge of the gear, techniques, etc.

Where would a guy (me) start if he wanted to do this? I have several acquaintenances in the hobby, and we've all flown for years, but none of use ever fly giant scale. I don't know where to find plans, or kits, etc.

And that leads me to my next question. I've never scratch built a plane, but I've built quite a number of kits. I don't kow how to do this. Is it difficult?

Just throw out some thoughts so I can learn at least a few basic fundamentals about big-plane building. Thanks a bunch.

Bosch, the only difference in building from plans or from a kit is that you use the plans to build a kit first. Finish cutting the parts out before you start gluing things together. It goes better that way.

Balsa USA has a very good selection of giant scale plans and kits at very reasonable prices. The 1/3 scale Fokker D-VII is a whopper. You might want to consider a 1/4 scale D-VII for your first gasser.
