42% Extra 300 Mid Wing Build
Ok guys.
I got the emails asking so here we go. Im starting 4 42% planes for customers and will post the progress as we go. The first set of pics show the layout of the table two fuselages to be built at a time. Were laying out the longerons, squaring up the formers then strigering the sides and sheeting them with AAA 3/32" balsa.

Hello,
The stringers and fuse side sheeting are scarfed jointed since they are only 48" long. Hows your plane progressing?
Thanks
John

I had to scab some balsa on the front sides before I sheeted the sides so that it would match the plans. It wasn't a big deal at all. I will be covering the horz stabs Friday , then all I left is paint the cowl and pants, put decals on when they get here from Kirbys. I really like the way these kits go to gather. Thanks Eddie
Keep the pics coming

Hello,
I use probond for all the sheeting, attachment of the turtle deck, bottom hatch, and top hatch. I use Probond wood glue for capping the ailerons, wings, stabs, elevators etc. I use 2 to 1 marine laminating epoxy mixed with a little granulated fiberglass powder for the gear plate, firewall, tailwheel plate phenolics. I will have more Pics on Tuesday.
Thanks
John

Thanks for posting that pic of how you sheeted your wings. I have done it all different ways in the past. I think that i have always over done it in the past.
I was windering if you glued all your sheeting together before you applied them to the foam or just taped them together and let them glue together when you sheet the wings ????
Cant wait to get my 35% edge kit from aerotech
Chad

Hello,
You can do it either way. I tape the sheets first, then pre glue them with wood glue. Once dried I remove the tape sand the seams on a flat table first. Doing this allows a nice finish since your sanding on a flat surface. Then lay them up with Probond/Ulitimate glue..
Thanks
John
