RE: My Carden Christmas
Tom was building this one for himself, but then decided to sell it... He did alot of lightening on it... He told me that it should come out at 25.5 lbs with a DA100!!!
In case you can't tell, I'm stoked... Sorry to hijack your thread...

RE: My Carden Christmas
My wife also does not know that she got me a 40% Extra 260! I feel guilty! Not!!! Should have it by Mid January. Really anxious to start the build. I have not really established a plan to lighten the construction. Would like some solid advice on where to lighten and not to lighten. I have followed Ivan Kristensens build and talk about extreme but then again it may be totally acceptable. On a Carden whats the opinion of a Carbon Fiber Landing Gear, Wing Tube , And Stab Tube to help lighten the plane?

RE: My Carden Christmas
Look here at how Ivan Kristensen lightened his Carden Extra 260. Nice pics.

RE: My Carden Christmas
Dennis:
Look me up when you finally move to God's Country, TexASS... It's a big state and not sure where you're moving to, but there's a lot of good RC guys here...
I have been itching for a Carden, but I don't have the patience or time to stick build one... When I saw this one in the marketplace, I called Tom ASAP and struck a deal...
Tony:
Tom left out the cross-braces to save weight... Once I finish the final mock-up and fitting all electronics / mechanicals, I plan on putting them in prior to paint / covering...
BTW, I'm a Hokie too... Born & raised in Roanoke and went to VA Tech...
As far as lightening a Carden, I don't recommend calling Dennis at Carden... It appears that he takes a very dim view of anyone lightening his airframes... Just FYI...
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year everyone...
