The best way to improve a DA 100 is to buy a EVO 80

How about 5800 rpm with a 27*14 propeller...

I had my 150 done just a couple of weeks ago. My motivation in having it done was because the engine was starting to shake a little more than I wanted it to. Well Mark not only got the thing running smoother than before but the additional power is nothing short of fantastic. After getting the needles in the sweet spot I was able to pull vertical after take off, 2 rolls right, 2 rolls left, 1 snap right, 1 snap left and it was still going. The idle rpm has also dropped and is more reliable. One thing that I have not seen anyone mention about the Sala mods is that the airplane is cleaner after a flying session ( More effecient burn ) and it seems to be using less gas. Before the mods I would have just a couple of oz fuel in the tank after 3 sequences, now its more like 1/4 tank.

I owned a DA150 SS and could not notice a difference between it and one that was not. DA150 is a really great engine as well as the DA100, I love'em both.

Yukky spam Roger.

Randy,Bottom line is are you happy with the way the engine runs and pulls now? If you are then no reason to mess with it,I have done a half dozen DA-100's and with good results ,The 100 cylinders seems to be a little cleaner and the ports more or less match match up better then the 150, But there has been an improvment on all in the smoothness of the engine from idle all the way through the RPM range.

On the engines i do I do very little port angle changing most the work i do is to match flow between the 2 cylinders and try to make the combustion chamber scavage faster,That is key to making a 2 cycle engine run stronger.

I am going to put my 2 cents about Mark's mod. I talk to Mark at the shootout in October about the mods. All that Mark told me made sense to me. But yet since I am just an airplane mech and don't make lots of money and my engine is still under warranty and I happened to be in Tucson I decided to ask DA about it. Here's what they told me Sala mods are so good that they wont even void the warranty. For me I think that is a lot to say when a manufacturer wont void the warranty when you modify it. Go Sala.
