I am building a 77" Weeks Solution from Miles Reed plans. I intended to use a ZDZ 80 but then I picked up a used BME 100 for about 1/2 new price. Now I don't have to carve a hole in the firewall for the carb.
The cylinders will stick out a bit from the standard cowl.
I saw a picture in the header of RCU of what I think was the same airplane but with an enlarged cowl. This is apparently a scale model of a Weeks modification.
Does anyone have any information on the full scale airplane or the pictured model? I would like to make or obtain the enlarged cowl

I built 2 Solution X's about 9 years ago. I widened the fuselage 1" to accomodate a 3W 4.2 twin a friend of mine had. I used a G-62. I started at the cowl 1" wider, and decreased that measurement 1/8" at each bulkhead location going rearward. That way at the tail I was only about 1/8" wider that stock. Turned out nice, and built both in just a couple months. They flew well. Mine was very light with the G-62 on ignition, and weighed 18.5 pounds. Not hard at all building the cowl out of wood, and no worry about paint match. Scott

For a 100cc it might have been a better fit...
I assume you're looking to fit blisters to the cowl sides to cover the plug boots...
Perhaps you could find a couple small wheel pants and cut them up to make something that looks nice?
The the outline of the "blister" could be traced onto the covered wooden cowl and set in and epoxied... maybe even glassed from the inside to really attach them firmly.
Of course they could be carved from balsa too... just maybe a little narder to cover or paint...

Here is a site that my friend has. He has plans for the "Weeks" bipe, from a first hand view, he really builds a nice plane. Maybe this will be of some help.

Hello, I have a Weeks Solution. The full scale airplane was destroyed in one of the florida hurricanes several years ago. The hangar fell in on it and Kermit decided not to rebuild. Mine is scaled after his, all black with yellow and orange stripes and the Sportys pilot shop decal. I fly it with a quadra 52 and it is about seven years old.

to the first guy that posted, the 77 Inch solution was designed around the D&B 3.7 twin. anything more or hacking up the cowl is not necessary. I have a 90 inch solution that miles built personaly for me a few years ago. I have a D&B 5.1 and at 27 lbs the performance is awsome. Kermit weeks is also a friend of mine and I can assure you the full size solution still does exhist and will be rebuilt in the future. A beam fell on it right behind the canopy and basically cut it in two. The solution is one of the best and forgiving models I have had. It goes where you aim it, does not have any bad habbits, and lands like a trainer. Anyone interested he has a framed up 90 incher for sale. If your interested I can contact miles
